I actually can't tell if that's a joke or not, but it would at least approach reality - Mileses can and do effectively lead armies, being Matilda basically counts as a Thinker power, and as Promise demonstrates, if your shtick is leadership you get scarier as the people around you do.

I haven't considered this in detail but my instinct is to say that a "be a MatildaMiles" Thinker power* could feasibly beat Contessa. Where the definition of "beat" very much includes "exist such that for nearly any goal Contessa could have short of specifically and uncompromisingly desiring your destruction, cooperating with you is more efficient than opposing you even adjusting for the ethical constraints that come with the former". Matilda and Miles alone each approach this standard.

*Template attractors probably encourage them to get something else along with the Thinker power, and template attractors are also not super keen on a MatildaMiles showing up as somebody else's superpower instead of as their very own selves present in their very own brain from the beginning. On the other hand this would be a really appropriate thing to happen to a third clone of a Miles after the Mark and the Aaron had already been produced; on the gripping hand, if I did that I'd have to figure out what the fourth-quadruplet base personality was before they got the power... and, again, I'd have to write a MatildaMiles, which is Difficult.

...however, I'm strongly tempted now to arrange with Nemo for a set of Vorkosigan triplets to show up in Wormverse, end up with a MatildaMiles-empowered clone somehow, join forces with said clone, and absolutely wreck the shit out of any plot that stands in their way. Because that would be awesome.

Chelsea needs would win over Edward preferences on who they'd fixate on. They'd be curious about a Bell but would either ignore or destroy them for personal mental health reasons.

...JamesMiles with a ChrisCordelia is surprisingly plausible. The main place where it falls down is that the Moriarties and the Naismiths relate to the concept of ethics very differently.

JamesGregor would be interesting. I'm not sure it works, but if it fails, it fails interestingly. Similar Moriarty-Naismith problem wrt ethics.

Tony is still reluctant to fuse, but a TonyLiselen is one of the most appealing prospects he's heard.

JokerMatilda... has a bit of a Moriarty-Naismith type problem that I'd have to think my way around. But also fills me with glee.
