Saving Aestrix
Re: Saving Aestrix
People stopped voting for me, but people also haven't changed their votes from me, which is also rather dangerous. So.
Re: Saving Aestrix
you could try agreeing with me about plaindealingvillain, or picking on some other townie for something that looks like suspicious to you, or say that you want to keep an eye on aestrix in case she does something scummy later but you don't think it would be shooting ourselves in the foot to lynch her today just because the RNG said so. the point of this random voting thing was to generate discussion, see how people respond to pressure, etc. you like the way aestrix responded to pressure so you want to prod some other people. then pick a name at random and ask them what they think about how things are going.
wishy-washy is a scumtell on mafiascum but i think people townread you for it here. + it is the first day and nobody really does have anything to go on so you could whine about that, because i bet most of the townies are feeling the same way.

Re: Saving Aestrix
Alright, our opportunity has just come up. Modrony's plan's bandwagon is a pretty plausible alternative to the RNG, so we should be able to get a bunch of people jumping to it. And, as an extra bonus, if Aestrix does die anyway, it gives us a very easy hook on which to get modrony labeled as suspicious, since they only suggested that plan after Aestrix's number came up, making it look suspiciously like a deliberate attempt to defend the mafia.
Re: Saving Aestrix
Great. Should we discuss in advance who we'll vote for? Maybe we could split up 3-3 or 2-2-2? Whoever we decide on we should probably each have individual reasons for them.
I like modrony's plan in general -- it's better for both the town and for us if you believe that's possible. it's better for the town because RNG is literally the 2nd worst they can do (no lynch being the worst) and this way they'll be basing their opinions on the way people are behaving and gut feelings which is more likely to succeed at getting scum than the RNG (even though the RNG happened to pick scum this time). It is also better for us because if it's the entire town against aestrix vs six people defending her that's really obvious, but this way there will be a bunch of smaller wagons and we can put our votes onto the non-us wagons.
The bunch of smaller wagons are ALSO better for town because it's less likely to be mod rule and it's going to generate discussion and get them talking to each other and that'll help them form clearer opinions of each other and they'll end up voting better for it.
the precommiting to not changing their votes once the wagons form is completely stupid and plays into our hands so we should encourage it. We don't have to write down names in advance, we can just slide onto whichever wagons we want to with pretend reasons (and on day 1 it's okay that our reasons are going to be weak. we can have stronger reasons on later days).

Re: Saving Aestrix
I'm probably voting for Alphabeta and I think they're acting suspiciously enough that a few townies will too. If, at the last minute, Aestrix is still winning, would it be suspicious if a bunch of us switched over to the next largest bandwagon?
Re: Saving Aestrix
If you're leaping off aestrix onto somebody else, yeah, probably suspicious, but if we're leaping off different wagons onto somebody else then it might be okay. but it's best if it's not last minute. Wait a bit to see how people vote before committing so you hopefully won't have to jump.
that or try to guess which way the wind will blow and vote early, up to you. depends on how strong your intuition is about alpha.
we just need to be careful to give reasons when wagon hopping -- unless lots of townies are doing it without reasons then i guess it doesn't matter so much. i think it's okay to say "I think [townie] made a good argument there" if a townie gives reasons for somebody and you do think it's a good argument. I know it's harder for me to be suspicious of people that are agreeing with me anyway.
I'm tentatively committing to wolfrider for inactivity and "gut feelings" but I'll probably be asleep when you guys reveal (i think everyone revealing at the very last minute would be dumb), so I'll probably make up a reason for joining a wagon instead

Re: Saving Aestrix
I haven't actually checked the thread over yet, despite my claim to have a name written down, but I'm going to read it over while in an innocence-emulating state of mind, pick out whoever seems most suspicious and isn't one of us, and pretend they were my choice all along.
Re: Saving Aestrix
I feel like at this point I shouldn't say much in thread, else I get more suspicion on me. I'm going to wait to post things until I see how this new plan goes, if it doesn't look like it'll work to save me I will see how I do with an impassioned speech of doom and destruction. But right now I think it would only distract from what we're trying to do, and I'm playing the part of a slightly fanatical no-day-1-lyncher, so suddenly changing would seem rather suspicious.

I think most people are suspicious of Alphabeta. I'm changing my vote to him tomorrow morning.

Re: Saving Aestrix
Okay, I think it is important (as we've discussed) that we don't all vote for Alphabeta, because then people could be suspicious of all of us when he is revealed to not be mafia. I have therefore voted for Aestrix and made an argument that I think is in-character for the me-who-is-not-mafia to make.
I will try to check in just before the deadline in case I need to save Aestrix at the last moment. I hope I don't need to, though, because that will seem *very* suspicious.
