MTG cards for characters

Post by Ezra »

My first try at Kithabel came out as more of a counter specialist.

Kithabel, Counter Sorcerer
UU1
Creature - Human Sorcerer
2/1
UUX: Counter target spell with converted mana cost X or less, then put a momentum counter on Kithabel. X is equal to the number of momentum counters on Kithabel.

During every upkeep phase, if Kithabel did nothing since the previous upkeep phase, remove a momentum counter from Kithabel. This includes your opponent’s upkeep phases.

If Kithabel has more than 18 momentum counters, she has flying.

Kithabel pauses to glare at an overturned fence. (What overturned fence? It swears it never ever even thought about falling! No ma'am!)

Seems really hard to get off the ground (not that many CMC 0 spells running around). Maybe attacking or blocking also add counters? Alternatively, start her as 1/1 or even 0/1 and have the momentum be represented by +1/+1 counters...

Not a creature, but a (fairly complex) ability:

Diamond-Vampirism (This creature gets +5/+5, or +6/+6 against Humans. When this creature deals damage to a Human, tap that Human and put three Turning counters on it. While it has Turning counters, it does not untap during its controller’s untap step, and one Turning counter is removed during each of its controller’s upkeep steps. When the last Turning counter is removed from a creature, that creature gains Diamond-Vampirism)

The Vampirism ability? In what way is it horrifying? I haven’t played Magic in a while so have no clue how balanced it is, but it seems like it could be an interesting mechanic: it gives you an advantage, but if you use that advantage there’s a good chance it will give the same advantage to an opponent.

Yeah, I was thinking that, but if you make anything with the ability have a high mana cost that in particular is a lot less of a problem.

Plus, vampires can kill pretty much anything.

I'm feeling like there's a way to create a Mint enchantment where you pay life to get Wishcoin counters and then remove Wishcoin counters to have various effects...
