I volunteer the same for my characters, although they don't all come with coherent verbal explanations. XD

Re: Whence Screennames
I seem to recollect this (and also Aelare's screenname anotherbreeze) as being a quote from the poem I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou.Bluelantern wrote:How about "namethesky"?
I'll volunteer my characters as well, for what it's worth? They're all in marriminions. The free bird thinks of another breeze
And the trade winds soft through
The sighing trees
And the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright
Lawn and he names the sky his own.

Re: Whence Screennames
Libby screennames:
neverbeatme - Canon quote. "It has been a duel between you and me, Mr. Holmes. You hope to place me in the dock. I tell you that I will never stand in the dock. You hope to beat me. I tell you that you will never beat me. If you are clever enough to bring destruction upon me, rest assured that I shall do as much to you."
prima_sequentem - Cicero. "Prima enim sequentem honestum est in secundis tertiisque consistere." - "Aspiring to the highest place, there is no disgrace in stopping at the second, or even the third" - the screenname is the "aspiring to the highest place" part.
salus_populi - Cicero. "Salus populi suprema lex esto." - "Let the welfare of the people be the ultimate law." - the screenname is the "the welfare of the people" part.
exerce_imperia - Virgil, apparently (I took it from a suggestion in the screenname thread). The full quote doesn't especially apply, but the snippet means something like "exert supreme power".
causas_rerum - I'm having trouble tracking down the original source, but the phrase means "the causes of things" and it was from a Cicero passage about how understanding causality is what differentiates humans from animals.
summa_iniuria - Cicero. "summum ius, summa iniuria" - "supreme justice, supreme injustice" - I'm having trouble finding the in-depth translation that I read when picking the screenname, but it seems to unpack to something along the lines of "applying the law too vigorously can be worse than not applying it at all".
ad_pacem (not currently used) - Cicero. "Equidem ad pacem hortari non desino" - "As for me, I cease not to advocate peace" - the "[for] peace" part.
Libbies really like Cicero, what can I say. XD

Re: Whence Screennames
I am curious about liakoura, affodel, well_known, and aeskhyne! (Although for some I am probably confused for spoiler-y reasons or canon-related reasons).

Re: Whence Screennames
aeskhyne is a variant/mutated spelling of Aeschyne. I found the irony too delightful to resist.
