Out of curiosity, what IS stopping you from saying all our names? Do you think a townie will protect you tonight?

I seriously don't, I didn't say all of the names because it would genuinely make the game unfun. They get a list, day one, of all mafia members, their powers, and the order to kill them in? Yeah, uh, I am not doing that.

(I think we should centralize all our Aestrix-related discussion here.)

Well, that was an interesting thing to come back from a lunch meeting to. Ugh, Aestrix, I wish you hadn't been online for that 20-minute period. It was almost so clean! Well, at least you actually were the traitor, so I don't have to feel guilty about it. (For the record, I thought from the beginning that one of the unpowered people was the traitor, and then you came on a bit too strong during the whole revenge conversation. But I probably wouldn't have put the pieces together if your name hadn't been spit out of THE RNG.)

(I suspect that random Day 1 kills just stopped being a thing on this forum, somehow...)

So, here's the thing. Now that we've conclusively identified you as the traitor, I have no real incentive to try to kill you (more than I want to kill anyone else). I *especially* don't want to attempt to kill you tonight, because I am almost certain that ~everyone in town who can manage it is protecting you and it will fail. Hell, it could be amusing to have you continually dropping cryptic hints the whole game and watching people fail to pick up on them. But if there really are no constraints on what you're allowed to say, this whole game gets super weird. While the last few hours were super fun for me, and probably fun in retrospect for you, they were presumably incredibly confusing for 13/19 of the game. And you revealing all of our names *tomorrow* (which, again, I think I can't stop you from doing because you'll almost certainly be protected tonight) is not going to be a fun game.

It is a dilemma. In fact, I'd like some input from the mods here. Are you willing to retcon in a set of definite restrictions on what Aestrix can reveal in-thread that is mutually agreeable to both her and us? I would potentially be willing to negotiate up as far as the mafia not being able to kill Aestrix until all of Town is dead in exchange for this. Otherwise I'm not sure how we're supposed to proceed.

On the plus side, Town just wasted a lynch opportunity! *And* Aestrix gets to stick around in the Sekrit forum! So those are both good!

I mean, there's no guarantee that anyone has a protection power.

I think killing her is urgent. Even if she doesn't give a list, she's going to be voting, and it's going to be for the 5 of us, and that's a dead giveaway. We can stop her from listing us out, we can't stop her from voting for us. I'm pretty sure she knows who I protected, but there are 4 more of us who can be lynched tomorrow, and 3 of us who don't want to be lynched, and 1 of us who at least doesn't want to be lynched for a few more days.

You're right. At the moment (modulo changing the rules somewhere) we probably have to attempt to kill Aestrix tonight. But if it fails, which I strongly expect it will, then she's almost certainly untouchable for the rest of the game because all she has to do is say "keep protecting me", vote for 1 of us each day, have everyone bandwagon on the person she votes for (they'd be crazy not to, right), and then we die. All she has to do is vote for pistachi0n first, removing our protection, and then kill the rest of us in any order she wants. Barring us getting insanely lucky and killing all of the people protecting her at night and then her before that happens, game ends.

...given this, unless we kill Aestrix tonight the outcome of the game is effectively determined. That doesn't seem fun. Maybe it can be patched with putting restrictions on Aestrix, as I said above, but since, given what you said, those restrictions would have to include preventing her from voting or naming any of us in any way, it seems hard.

Aestrix, do you have any thoughts?

Yeah uh. Honestly I think my existence at this point is sort of unfun for the game in general, unless I'm literally gagged.

I genuinely want mafia to lose, but not like that, the entire point of the game is to have fun. I don't want to ruin that for other people.

My tentative solution is having her flee into the night under Witness Protection, but I want to talk to Nemo, who is offline.

I am fine with fleeing into the night. It's in character for the character, even xD
