It's probably akin to Jane Eyre or something; commonly regarded as very romantic, entirely lacking in consent and healthy relationship dynamics.

It's not Eclipseworthy in the sense that we don't want it to be memetically associated with it. The setting certainly has its share of Christian Greys, cf Tobias.

Although...I mean...the progagonist is Isabella Swan. It is, essentially, a bdsm thing based on twilight fanfiction. It's just better than 50sg by an even wider margin than Luminosity is better than Twilight.

... There's precedent for Effulgence taking on "execrable" worlds. Would "rational 50 Shades of Grey" be a step too far?

It would be too earthficcy unless it got combined with something else, and I don't think there's really anything worth saving in the plotline.
