Effulgence Mafia Game Thread
Re: Effulgence Mafia Game Thread
Bah, screwed up the spoiler code. Ah well, I'll get it right next time.

@Aestrix and @Alphabeta
Thanks!
Okay here's this:
Yes, I do realize that this is suspicious.
If it would help I could publish the private key to what I know of my power, although it would probably make me less valuable as a result.
I'm not sure what else to do
Thanks!
Okay here's this:
Statement of my Power
I cannot currently do anything that would be visible to other townsfolk.Yes, I do realize that this is suspicious.

Re: Effulgence Mafia Game Thread
BlueSkySprite, what’s the difference between the template you posted on the previous page and the first crypto thing you posted? I’d guess one would be your abilities, but you said you couldn’t encode those. I also notice they use different pubkeys.
Also, I hate to say this because if it does deflect votes from you they land on me, but assuming you’re pro-town you’re more useful to us alive and crippled than completely dead.

Re: Effulgence Mafia Game Thread
Sorry for the double post, but this is a separate unrelated matter:
Where do you see quoting the PM is against the rules? I did not see this, and I don’t see a purpose for that rule unless Alicorn cryptographically signed your PM or something.pistachi0n wrote:I just realized I made a mistake and I need to disclose it. I misunderstood the initial point of the cryptography and I thought it was to document the role Alicorn assigned you so people could see it at the end of the game. So I copied and pasted the private message from Alicorn in the encryption. Which is against the rules, except since it was encrypted, nobody has looked at it. Go with my initial public disclosure that I'm a townsperson.

Re: Effulgence Mafia Game Thread
There was not supposed to be a difference between the one I first posted and the one on the previous page, but I messed up really badly and it says "This is a test!" because I had failed at allowing JavaScript.
The second one was supposed to be a repeat of the first, and just put into a spoiler box as an example of what I had in mind, but I noticed it was weird and tried again until I got it to actually be the name of my template, rather than "false" or "This is a test!" by allowing everything (including Google Analytics, which kinda creeps me out) except DoubleClick. I do not know why they have different public keys, but I think it might be that they are different key sizes? One is 512 bit and the other is 1024 bit.
I am actually not sure at all whether I will be useful to the town before either the town or the killers kill me.
If DanielH, modrony, and Alphabeta all agree (I doubt that the only people really having any conversation at all are all killers. although input from anyone else to make that even less likely would be extremely welcome also) that I should post the private key to my template, or possibly my template and my power, I could do that. I am somewhat hopeful that their nature will not make me a target for a little while.
I think this is as close to a reasonable statement I can make while withholding some information and trying to guess how likely things are.

Re: Effulgence Mafia Game Thread
If the first one is just “This is a test!”, then can you share the associated privkey? I’m also surprised you were able to encrypt anything without it going and encrypting the right thing, but not totally shocked because people program poor UI all the time.
I think it generates a new random key every time the page loads, so they’d be different unless you explicitly made them the same.
I do not think that your template or your powers would actually convince me since you can’t prove it any time soon, but I won’t guarantee they wouldn’t. I think your best bet might be to hope that the votes to lynch you don’t catch up to the No Lynch votes, and that the killers think you’re bluffing about your usefulness and/or somebody with a protective power protects you.

Re: Effulgence Mafia Game Thread
Okay that makes sense:
I would really appreciate it if nobody lynched me, even though I am so far really bad at this.
Private key for first post
Unless I screwed up really badly this should do it.I would really appreciate it if nobody lynched me, even though I am so far really bad at this.
Re: Effulgence Mafia Game Thread
Confirmed; that does indeed decrypt your first message to “This is a test!”.
Re: Effulgence Mafia Game Thread
Yeah. Sorry but I do agree with Daniel here. Neither of those is actual evidence.BlueSkySprite wrote: If DanielH, modrony, and Alphabeta all agree (I doubt that the only people really having any conversation at all are all killers. although input from anyone else to make that even less likely would be extremely welcome also) that I should post the private key to my template, or possibly my template and my power, I could do that. Powers could be useful info for predicting other powers.
I would publish that if you were about 90% sure you were going to die before using it.
And if you die and do have a benevolent template we would know the info is correct.
"This is a test!" is default text that comes up when you try to decrypt something with the wrong private key.

Man, I can't keep up with you all. Well, here's my encrypted role:
I am unconvinced by the arguments for a random day-1 lynching and now mildly suspicious of most of the people doing the pushing for it.
INSURANCE
And after making this, I see that apparently some people have switched to separate role and powers posts? Goddammit. Disregarding that and leaving this here anyway.I am unconvinced by the arguments for a random day-1 lynching and now mildly suspicious of most of the people doing the pushing for it.
