Why the random crypto?

I'm pretty sure if I manage to not get killed in this round then it's better for my template not to be known later on, and if literally nothing I say about my role will make any difference then I think it's probably better to save it for later on the chance that you don't kill me, as a later surprise to the killers, and if you do kill me my template will be published anyway.

(That is actually a really neat way to generate random numbers!)

I'm pretty sure I believe DanielH about using an actual random number generator, although it'd be nice if someone who knows more about randomness or the website's capabilities confirmed. Also it'd be nice if the number wasn't 4. =)

I do not trust the general pacifism, because people seem to be mostly motivated by math I don't really get.
I'm not sure what kinds of things you can verify, although I guess if I make it past this round and it comes up again the private key might actually be useful for getting people to refrain from killing me again.

Random crypto is to make noise so it's hard to tell when meaningful crypto is posted.

Like if you wanted to make a statement in advance, you'd want to mark it as such so that you couldn't make (e.g.) 5 posts in a row claiming in each one to have a different power and then posting a key for #3 when it is convenient to claim to have that ability would be really suspicious.

You would need to release all the keys to make it convincing.

That is why people should mark something in plaintext if they plan to reveal it separately.

@Alicorn and @Nemo Conseqentiae is it possible to write you a will that only happens under certain conditions? Like one will that you publish if my town lynches me and one will you publish if I am killed by the killer? Also do we just PM them to you, or something else?

I think that we should make it a habit of everyone making an encrypted statement on an explanation of their powers, if they have any, and even the ordinary townspeople get in on it to confuse the Mafia.
