I would have thought that otherwise-inexplicably bringing up the fact that Alicorn is a mean meanieface as being relevant to those topics would have clued you in to my confusion being entirely in-character. This may be a subtle, vague hint at my assigned role.

Okay, well it's not quite as subtle anymore, but it's still vague. There are a lot of characters who haven't ever seen a wishcoin or the Admin, after all.

Edit: To further clarify, it was half-in-character in the same way that this message is half-in-character. The mental image I had of my character knew what wishcoins and torching were, but was being somewhat sarcastic and snarky regarding them because not getting any was a sore spot. Discussing this at length may or may not be a ploy to draw attention to myself.

Further edit: got it, sarcasm is to be unconfusing henceforth

Please do not try to act in-character. It would be very easy to overdo, we did not balance the game for conspicuousness of traits, and it would throw off everybody's strategy. Just optimize for your win condition.

Well, if you want to get picky, any one of us *could* have done it (I am of course assuming we live in a hypothetical non-ablist utopia in which even a sentient school of fish is capable of murdering a poor innocent cat in the prime of its life if it so desires). Any of us, including me, could have chosen to end the life of poor innocent Cricket. But I know I didn't do it. (And Daniel claims to know the same thing regarding himself...)

Okay!

I've seen some speculation about the possibility that Cricket was not murdered, but we have been informed by a reliable source (I assume that the narrator is reliable) that Cricket was murdered and there is a killer in our midst, so it doesn't really help anything to consider the possibility it wasn't murder.

Wait, when did anyone say that Cricket was murdered? We have been told that Cricket was found dead and that A KILLER IS IN OUR MIDST, but that just implies that at least one of us has previously killed someone (not necessarily murdered, it could have been manslaughter, negligence, self-defense...) at least once. That doesn't mean Cricket (or even anyone in our community) was murdered. There's no need to get hysterical/homicidal just yet (though if we do decide death is the answer, I have previously suggested modrony as a good first target... ;))

People are going to convey a lot of true information about their roles, and they are going to convey a lot of false information about their roles. This is true whether they convey it by saying “I am Golden”, by saying “I could potentially have saved Cricket if I’d been there; I’m sorry”, by saying “No, I don’t have any spare wishcoins, but my husband tells me my employee and his boyfriend are currently planning to make some”, or any other way. They will do this whether they are Golden or not. As you said in the planning thread, we are allowed to claim to be Golden, but we are also allowed to lie about being Golden; why aren’t we allowed to act like Golden?

@jalapeno_dude: I don’t believe your argument is valid (God can punish whomever She likes and does not need our help), but I feel intellectually obliged to point out: The argument you used against modrony also applies to Thatwasademo now, and may apply to me soon given how I just talked back to God.

NOTE: Golden was chosen because she was the first Effulgence character by publication date, having appeared years prior in Luminosity. I don’t consider other possibilities, like the Joker, to count because 1. Golden is the first character I thought of after Stella, and I already wrote the above paragraph; 2. Most of them (depending on how you count it; Sherlocks-and-Tonies-in-Sunny-worlds are debatable, as is Strat) were written only by other authors before here; and 3. I don’t know when the possibilities in 2. were first published.

Grrr ;|

Personally I am inclined to suspect people too eager to point fingers.
That is what I would do if I was a dastardly villain and wanted to efficiently reduce the total amount of goodness in the world.
There has been a couple of those thus far.

The killers know each other. They can safely pick people out cause they know they won't hit a friendly.
We can't do that.

It is not strictly the case that you cannot act like Golden (or whoever), just as you are allowed to claim outright to be her, but you should not strategize in accordance with likely actual character motivations. For example, many characters would disapprove of summary mob justice even in the face of a threat to their life, yet it is unlikely that we would give those players win conditions for which never ever voting to lynch was a particularly good plan. Your win condition is how you win and if you don't try to win the game does not work.

Hi. I'm Tulip. And also a bunch of other names, a sizable fraction of which have vanished into ancient servers, never again to be recalled by anybody including myself. But Tulip is the main recurring one.

I'm not the killer. Or a killer. Or otherwise any number of killers that isn't zero. Not that my statement is any more trustworthy than anyone else's, of course, but it seemed worth putting out there anyway.

I vote No Lynch.

Is there any easy way to track new posts on this thread short of refreshing the page every ten minutes? Its posting rate is much higher than most threads here, and my standard method of "check the forum a few times per day" will, while adequate for getting my votes in in time, make it difficult to engage in actual conversations, which seems like a problem worth patching.
