would it be game killing if people who didn't reply within the time limit are presumed to have spent the night sleeping and not killing anybody (if they were a killer at night) or spent the day sleeping and not voting (if they miss a day)? that might speed up PBP.

Probably not, for one night, but quite possibly if they completely drop out, I'd expect.

Maybe if we had people that mught drop out privately request to be townsfolk, but that could cause other problems.

There is not yet a time set! We are still figuring out if we even need to set A Time or just do it asynchronous-style. Since we are allowing abstention and idle killers, I suppose defaulting in the case of absent player is a reasonable thing to do, but I would like to have an idea of who those people might be so they can get relatively inessential parts.

Also some game masters let people say things like "I'm not on my computer this night: if X dies scan Y, if not scan X" (in private communication of course.)

if it is in irc, and if i show up, then i will be present for the entire thing, unless bedtime happens or dinner time happens or something but those are foreseeable things i can pm a gm about, and if i'm playing some role i can pm them with my next few moves.

if it is PBP, I will probably continue to check this forum at least once a day like I already do (i already check it more than once a day actually), and do not currently plan anything that might result in having to miss days, but i could also PM my next x moves to a mod if something came up.

this all depends on the assumption that moves are going to be short sentences like "i think pen is the killer". i am 100% sure i can commit to sentences like that. if paragraphs are required i might be able to produce them but might not.

I'd like to clarify that if it's PBP with long enough periods (which I assume it would have), I'm a yes. If it's real-time, I'm on the very probable end of the “maybe” spectrum: I live in a US time zone and have few (but nonzero, hence “maybe”) strictly-scheduled demands on my time.

@BlueSkySprite: They should probably acquire an account, since it might be PBP, but I don't see why not.
