I have problems seeing the second part, maybe "could beat the crap out you", but not destroy...?

Insidently, I need to read Harry Dresden and 50 other books.

"Could beat the crap out of you" is an acceptable level of intimidation! He's not picky.

Fairy Creep wrote:"[Promise]'s my sorceress," says the dragonfly-winged fairy. "She had a mortal once, too, but she wasn't very careful with it." He laughs.
I'm going to guess that “it” “escaped”, and that this escape was perfectly carefully planned.

I googled Ari Kaltenbaum but got nothing. Is he original?

I assumed so, but I know nothing about Dresden Files (I eventually figured oot thtt's where he's from), so I don't.know for sure.

Why does Promise's plan require that order of vassalization? Since she can't do anything to her vassal anyway, why can't he say his name and then feed her before revoking her orders?

Edit: This was answered two posts after I'd read.

He is indeed original! He's ostensibly from a Dresdenverse setting but can be shoehorned into anything that has magic that can be applied to punching and fae to be adopted by. Though I feel like Belinda could be a sparklepire, and that implies it's less specifically fae and more "really nasty supernatural beings".

Would Belinda also work as a sunnypire? That seems to be a better fit because they have no standard sense of morality, like apparently Dresden fae.

Also, ARI, YOU IDIOT! IF THAT WERE ANYBODY BUT PROMISE THEY WOULD HAVE LEFT OUT THE LAST CLAUSE! YOU SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT BEFORE GIVING HEH YOUR NAME! WHAT WOULD YOUR MOTHER THINK AFTER ALL THAT TRAINING?

Sorry, shouting over.

She would probably work better as some kind of demon in that 'verse; Sunnypires typically lack the impulse control necessary to raise a human child without eating him, no matter how much they'd get from sacrificing him. Plus, Belinda likes being things that are exotic and elegant, which works better with demon than vamp. Sunnyvamps are gross.

And Ari trusts Promise a lot; she vassalled herself to him first, you know! Which could have been a bluff against him being a nice person, but he can't bring himself to distrust *absolutely everybody.* That gets exhausting, and he did it for between five and ten years after Belinda's death, so he is well sick of it.

He is! I like him as well. Very nifty. Vaguely similar to a lot of purple characters, which I hadn't realized until I actually started playing him.

I guess that makes sense, but I'd still think becoming a vassal would warrant extra paranoia, and already being one wouldn't help much in this case. Promise clearly agrees.

Anyway, I knew from the other sandbox he'd choose snow. I'd probably have said “waterfalls”, with snow as my last choice. I'd need more details to determine betweem grass and valleys.
