Plain old discussion of Alicorn stories.

The owners of the house are not on the planet. Any course of action that involves contacting them also involves holding the door for a minimum of several days to await their response, during which time their daughter is bound to object to a bunch of strangers camping out in her bedroom. Even if they let Vivienne Vorville in on the reason why, she may not have the authority to conclude any bargains about what may be done with her parents' house to maintain access to the magic door in their absence, and may not cooperate regardless. And she might freak out. Things like "freak out" and "assume it isn't real" are very natural responses to suddenly finding a magic door where your bedroom should be.

So it, again, comes down to whether or not it's worth seizing the house. Miles considers that it is not.
Also, the 'getting a door again' thing seems like a weird thing for them to be thinking about. Whatever your intentions as a writer regarding future availability of doors, given that none of them were aware of the existence of other universes at all before the incident, it'd be a more natural response to treat it as a once-in-a-lifetime event rather than something that can be expected to predictably reoccur under more convenient circumstances.
They have adopted a general attitude of trusting Bar, and Bar says that it is, although by no means guaranteed, at least possible to get a second door. That possibility is a factor in Miles's decision. Even if none of the people currently in the bar ever gets another door, Miles is going to tell Simon about all of this, and Simon is going to keep an eye out for more instances generally. Miles therefore considers that there is an inestimable but non-negligible chance of somebody finding another door someday - perhaps in a more convenient place, perhaps in a less convenient one, but somewhere.

I find it refreshing, because there's no such thing as objective beauty and it doesn't make sense that she would be beautiful to everybody.

It makes more sense for the dragonishes not to though, because dragons are normally very pretty members of whatever species their forms are.

Fair point. I find it incongruous because they made such a point of presenting Lynia as *so pretty!!* that it feels weird that isn't mentioned now... thought they should comment how the dragonishes are pretty too?

Anyway, please, someone mention that it is possible to use wizardry to move between universes?

...no embittered David Galen with a laser-targeted grudge against the Vorkosigans...
Perhaps not 'David Galen', but there was certainly the still-unknown person who apparently had enough of a grudge against Avar to conceal a shren egg near his house.

Magic to move between universes, you say? I wonder if anybody else is interested in extrauniversal magic? Maybe the people using a different kind to cure all the problems of dragonishes? Nah, why would they be interested in being here?

</sarcasm>

Somebody tell the offworlders that they can go home now if they want, but they can also talk about and trade magic systems. Lazarus in particular will want to see runecasting, and will be quite good at it.

Dragonishes, read the runecasting books some so you know to ask if you can even do it without unpredictable results.

We are actually doing our damnedest to avoid Lazarus showing up because we don't want to risk contaminating leaguebox with wishcoins. XD

Solution: Have a Lazarus show up, maybe while the dragonishes are away?
