Almost certainly the Society for Creative Anachronism. Short version: a bunch of people hold events in which they recreate the Middle Ages, except only the fun parts (holding courts, feasts, various kinds of art, and battles in which the weapons are carefully designed to *not* be able to significantly damage people through the armor they wear). The wiki link is probably a lot more reliable a source of information than the details I remembered from over half my life ago.

I considered the idea of joining up when I was around 12 - some of my friends and neighbors were involved, and I enjoy stuff like fencing and archery - but I wasn't interested in keeping up the roleplay. The implication in the story that if you do enough SCA you will start speaking in some European accent is because that's the way people talk. It also seemed like a big time sink with relatively little personal utility; if I wanted to do archery, there were better and more concentrated opportunities to do so even if they didn't involve shooting soft-tipped arrows at people wearing plate or scale armor.

Do spelters not tarnish because of some effect of violet-group water magic? I imagine it would be a pain to swim if you then needed to be polished immediately.

I think she wanted them to infer Society for Creative Anachronism, but was herself thinking of some royal Narnia counsel with those initials. Southern Counsel under Aslan is the best backronym I can think of, but isn't very good.

Didn't Isabella's book refuse to open for anyone but her, or am I thinking of a different Bell? Either way, these kids are probably in for a bit of a mauling when she finds out.

Maybe it only works inside Narnia? My first thought was that it would be suspicious to have an unopenable book so she told it to only open to some sections and locked others but there it seems unlikely she would have left these specific sections unlocked.

I thought the entire point of Maker Cam painting the train route was so he didn't need to fly it. Since he needs to fly it anyway for painting, can't he see what he's doing well enough to just make it?

My understanding was that there were problems with him making things in occupied spaces, so he's painting areas for workmen to dig holes.

Yes, there was, but I thought that was only because he didn’t have enough control from far away. When he’s close, he knows whether he wants to push things out of the way or intermix what he’s making with those things.

I think there still issues, specially given a) the scale b) him revealing his Makerness
