Living in an Alicorn-world is not, itself, problematic. Alicorn-worlds tend to have Bells, after all, ans she'd be quite happy on the relevant Mars, Saturn, Rainbowsand, or whatever. I do feel sorry for her living where she is and having Alicron pay attention to her.Bluelantern wrote:Emma is the safe-and-easy life type, right? Agreed. Alicorn-world is probably noticeably safer than an Alicorn-plot xDDanielH wrote:Living in an Alicorn-world is not, itself, problematic. Re: Emma and Jenny
So, Emma Miller Anderson. As with any newly introduced character I’m trying to work out what accent she’d have. Training to be a Watcher suggests British, but living on the East Coast of the US (if I read the implication in the intro correctly) before moving to Sunnydale suggests otherwise.
Re: Emma and Jenny
Her parents are British, in standard Watcher fashion, but were stationed near potential Watchers on the East Coast of the US (similar to how Kendra was trained by her Watcher in Jamaica) so Emma grew up there. She is not British-accent-free, though; her parents have the accent and she was homeschooled.
Re: Emma and Jenny
What relationship do the various Marri characters have with religion? Jenny mentioned Sunday mass so I'm assuming that she's Catholic (or, at least, the Sunday version of her is Catholic), but I can't remember anything faithwise at all about Emma or Alli.
Re: Emma and Jenny
IIRC, pretty much all Jennies' parents are highly Catholic (or similar, on non-Earths), including the parts encouraging having lots of kids. I don't remember any of the other characters.
Re: Emma and Jenny
As DanielH said, yes, Jennies are Catholic/locally religious, thus the pile of siblings. Lumos Jenny is Irish Catholic and Sunday Jenny is Italian Catholic. Quinn Jenny's family simply takes blessings very seriously, and of course have the fertility blessing. Kushiel Jenny was raised as a priestess of Naamah, since that was my chosen form of 'locally religious', though this is obviously very distinct from traditional Catholicism.Kitty wrote:What relationship do the various Marri characters have with religion? Emmas and Phils are Episcopalian (or given that Lumos/Sunday Emmas are fairly British, they are technically Anglican). Emmas families are extremely non-religious although, in more US-centric cases, Emma's parents do attend church semi-regularly for the social aspects. Phil's a little more religious than she is, but it's not a large part of either of their lives.
Alli is actually technically Jewish, not that she cares much. She likes identifying that way for cultural reasons, though.

Re: Emma and Jenny
Why is it weird that her parents are Watchers? Her parents are just being Stuffy and British and she has a reason to know lots of languages. Watchers aren't sidekicks, they're (in theory) mentors, which is one of the reasons Emma thinks she'd suck at it.
