Prurient Fascinations

Post by Alicorn »

The Aestrix Q&A thread is threatening to veer off into the mostly unrelated topic of how (in the specific case) Alexes and Sophs feel about Teh Sexytimes. So this is the meta thread where you may ask questions about my (and presumably other glowfic contributors') characters' orientations, inclinations, libidos, &c. &c. Either specific instances or template ranges that may go beyond what has previously appeared.

Okay, I am sorry for my string of posts. I didnt want to derail.

I know charlies come strongly in cishet, but what about Renées?

Also... Is charlie as celibate as implied?

Are alexes more likely to get boyfriends first than her siblings?
Sorry for my bad english

Renées don't seem to mind the idea of being bisexual, although any orientation making it implausible and/or sad that they could have married their corresponding Charlie to make a Bell is eschewed. (The Charlie/Renée pairing isn't and isn't supposed to be invariably doomed or an obvious bad decision; it just does poorly under Standard Earth and reminiscent conditions.)

Charlies are not into casual hookups and generally don't acquire girlfriends after their Renées leave, except for Mira's dad (which is a special case) and we're sort of speculating about shipping Eos Charlie with Hilary. They're not exactly thrilled about being lonesome, but fixing it isn't a driving force in their lives.

Alexes are much less picky than Bells, but we also spend much less attention on setting them up with suitable partners. So, in hypothetical unobserved conditions where authors weren't guiding their lives, yes, the Alexes would get first significant others earlier. In narrative continuity, where "who will this Bell date?" is a question of primary importance when we first cook up a world, it has not tended to be the case.

I'm totally fine with answering questions about my characters' orientations and sex drives, and would genuinely prefer to answer them here instead of my Q & A thread. Neatness, and also the poor thread keeps getting derailed.

I am sorry >_>

Well, similar question to Vernon, are they celibate like Charlie? Also, could they come in non-cishet male?

I wasn't pointing any fingers, bluelantern, it's all right <3

Verons will almost universally come in male (though not necessarily cis) because I really rather like representing a single dad who is good at parenting. They are somewhat celibate when their kids are young and need to be taken care of - they could date around if they wanted to, but don't care to with so much on their plate. When their kids out of high school and going out and doing things, Verons are a bit more up for the dating scene.

And whoever said that Veron was heterosexual? :P

Years of me living in a cisheteronormative society that cause you to assume that cishetero is the default.

...anyway, I am now vaguely wondering the Renée/Veron and possibly the Charlie/Veron compability even if the later is so unlikely to happen.

Renée/Veron is a - maybe. Verons are pretty okay with being moved around where ever, and are reasonably good at reading people. He'd never be as adventurous as Renée, but he'd be perfectly fine with going on wacky adventures to Scandinavia or something.

Charlie/Veron probably wouldn't work. Veron's quietly pretty jaded, and while he is willing to work with and even trust cops on a personal level, he does not believe in the overall system. I think this would cause problems, especially later down the road.

I am vaguely intrigued by Renée/Veron. But of the worlds we have, Chamomile's Ranata is still married to her Charlie, Hex doesn't have a Veron, Tayane's Renée is dead and not slated to be fetched up very soon, same with Medallion's - although I guess that one will be retrieved soonish and there's a Veron around and she didn't marry a Phil first... - and I think Limboite Renée from Inferno would find the age difference problematic, and Gemini's has opportunity but would feel awkward about it while actively living in Charlie's house everybody on top of each other (I'm actually considering having that one get back with her Charlie), Ravel's is still married, the one in Basket's world is definitely going to marry a Phil, and the one in Midnight, when fetched, will go back to her Charlie - I guess Treasury also allows it.

So our best options for this are Medallion and Treasury.

Talking about Gemini Renée, is sleeping in the same bed with Charlie as awkward as it sounds?

Also, I just thought... The swan siblings never set up dates for Charlie?
