Re: Effulgence Fandom Ideas
It's a dark fantasy world by Anne Bishop with a lot of sexual themes and a gender power reversal if not actual gender role reversal and a fairly strict feudalistic caste system. The magic system is somewhat innate power based and somewhat gemstone based, and also tied to sexual experience and gender in some ways, with also several specific idiosyncratic abilities some people can just have. There are several sapient species, an afterlife-of-sorts, and a whooole lot of trauma going on.

That sounds like a tremendously fun playground for a Joker, at minimum. Are they readily pirateable?

Hmm, I don't know where to find book torrents reliably, but I poked around a bit and found it hosted on that same only-slightly-sketchy Russian site as I found the other time:
Book 1: Daughter of the Blood
Book 2: Heir to the Shadows
Book 3: Queen of the Darkness
There are a few other books in the setting that flesh it out a bit, but those are the core books.

I find the sketchy Russian site basically unnavigable, alas...

Hum, that makes it considerably less likely for her to move to Forks?Alicorn wrote:I'm reading it (it's mostly pretty cute!) and so far none of the irises that have come up bother her that much; the most distressing candidate is the guy who detects crushes. Since they're strictly visual, as long as she had an idea of where someone saw something she could stand against a wall or turn in a particular direction or something, or just avoid someone whose iris was particularly upsetting to her. I could definitely see her pushing to homeschool or something if there was an upsetting iris among her classmates or if it was as common in her region as in this school in Japan to not be out about the details of one's iris, though.
Sorry for my bad english

Well, or more likely; Forks is a smaller town with a smaller school. She might have an easier time convincing her folks that she should attend school there than she would getting Renée to homeschool her.

That is a good idea... Any chance that Charlie would tell her the students with invasive iris?Alicorn wrote:Well, or more likely; Forks is a smaller town with a smaller school. If he knew them, sure, but he might not be privy to that information.

Re: Effulgence Fandom Ideas
Heh. I finished the cute manga and it was cute.
I think that if I put a Joker in that world, I'd give him an Iris that didn't follow a predictable pattern - essentially, he'd have constant visual hallucinations that might take any form, with no clear rule or theme, and he'd have to guess what they meant on a case by case basis. Jokers being Jokers and pretty good at symbology, this would not be as much of a complete waste of a power as it might be on someone else, but it would still be mostly useless.
For a Sherlock... I think they'd get a finding Iris: if they wanted to find a person or object, they would be able to see a ghostly silhouette of that person/thing if they looked in the right direction. And it would be possible to creatively apply it, like, "I want to find the person who stole my pen." I'd probably make a Tony an Iris Zero.
Not sure about any other templates. I think I'd give a Libby something Libby-related, but that covers a wide range of possible options. XD
