(I'm not that interested in doing Pan, btw.)
Edwards have this rather worshipful attitude towards Bells. You will get to see human Edward with human Bell when we get around to Pacifica and again when we get around to doing the Snow Queen, but neither are looming particularly large on the horizon right now.

I begin to see the Unfortunate Implications. I think that most people who read your works, especially enough to get to the point of reading a genderswapped Bell/Edward pair, would probably understand that you were making a statement about Edward and not about women (especially given that you have plenty of other female characters with a variety of non-Unfortunate traits), but your concern is a fair one (though now I wonder if the Implications would still be so Unfortunate if both Edward AND Bell were female... but I kinda doubt that any Edward would have homosexual inclinations). As for the human Edward/Bell pairs I will look forward to seeing those verses whenever they happen (mainly for their Elspeths, but also for seeing the human version of that courtship)!

Re: Effulgence Fandom Ideas
There's no intrinsic reason why I couldn't write a lesbian Edward, but I think the relationship would come off as unhealthy in a way that boy Edward / girl Bell relationships are insulated from. The kind of character assassins whose judgment has me nervous here would not actually care that I have written other lesbians in other circumstances.
Sometimes I post my inclinations or disinclinations on this thread as a way to communicate to kappa and/or Aestrix and/or onlookers who might be looking for ideas of things they could bring to me as possible RPs to start.

I always assumed that where a Bell was concerned Edward would always be Bellsexual.

Yeah, okay. I kinda think that Edward's relationships always come off as unhealthy, but I can see how it could be worse when the Edward was female and not necessarily ameliorated enough by making the target of her affection also female to fend off character assassins, so you do what you gotta do.Alicorn wrote:There's no intrinsic reason why I couldn't write a lesbian Edward, but I think the relationship would come off as unhealthy in a way that boy Edward / girl Bell relationships are insulated from. I had assumed you communicated to established RP partners through nonforum avenues when you had possible RPs to discuss, and I had not considered that you might be signaling to potential new partners by posting your inclinations in this thread, so this is good to know!
This makes sense but I think I am prejudiced to expect Edwards to be boring and dreary and generally conform strongly to the brooding-straight-white-male archetype and that overrode their Bellsexuality (also, I'm not yet certain how much of Edwards being Bellsexual is due to vampirism, yet).Anya wrote:I always assumed that where a Bell was concerned Edward would always be Bellsexual.
Re: Effulgence Fandom Ideas
In Luminosity, Edward needed explicit guidance from a trusted precog in order to not be a creepy stalker. An Edward without that advantage could make a pretty cool villain.

I wonder how well Dracula would adapt to Effulgence/Incandescence.

and Lugosi Béla could be a Bella!

So, I know it's really unlikely for lots of reasons, but I'm picturing a glowy adaptation of Thomas was Alone.
It's basically a computer game where a bunch of rectangles which are human-like AI jump through platforms and work together to solve puzzles and eventually escape the constructed puzzles to reach the internet and gain more control over their lives. Also there is a cloud of pixels with the goal of separating the AI back into separate puzzles the way they were originally intended to be. Some of them have different abilities and properties, and they all have different personalities.
If there were a Joker, I would picture her as a sort of rebellious pixel cloud.

Kind of sucks.
It is so accepted to write a man losing himself in a relationship, that it is almost the default way romance is depicted in pop-media.
Meanwhile all examples of reverse I have found are accepted as poor role-models if not consciously written to pander to the point of porn.
Not that either way seems healthy to me.
We need more men's-lib literature.
