That makes sense. Way too many of the articles are completely contradictory.

I'll be pleased if you eventually get around to it, but I know there's a long list of more appealing 'verses for you to do first.

I think the... "Cleaner" solution would be pick a dozen SCPs that could co-exist in the same facility and sort of ignore the rest.

IMHO the main appeal is that "Secret MBI-ish organization" is a niche that wasnt explored in the Effulgence continuity yet

SCP would be awesome!
I can totally picture an SCP researcher getting a Milliways door, then doing the responsible thing and leaving it open while they secure the area and notify their commanding officer.

Of course, the POV characters don't need to know the whole list, or even how many there are. So you still get to add SCPs any time you feel like it.

Good sources for myths: A large fraction of the myths I know came from this children's book. For something more respectable, Ovid's Metamorphoses is a great list of reasons to depose the gods. The epics are good reading for other reasons, but have a pretty low content of mythological information per unit time.

I'm sufficiently charmed by the idea of doing an SCP 'verse that I'm going to go add it to our Vague Future Notions List right now.

My personal favoured approach, if we actually did it, would be to pick a bunch of high-profile or interesting SCP entries, take those as canon, and go from there. I like the idea of a reality-warping Joker, and of a Bell agent treating him like a person in marked contrast to how anyone else acts around him. It would also be fun to do a writeup of an SCP entry for every one of my templates that we include... XD

D'Aulaire is probably the best resource for a quick and pretty overview intro to the myths. Goes by very quickly, and leaves you with a definite impression of how things are. And it actually doesn't bowdlerize its stuff too badly, either; like, the gruesome deaths are all pretty much still there (just not as lavishly illustrated as the rest), and a lot of the "heroes" retain the qualities that made them assholes in the original myths. Definitely recommended, especially if you supplement with something like Hamilton.

I had a D'Aulaire's growing up and most of my knowledge of Greek myths comes from there.

I spoke to some actual Classics majors, and they recommended D'Aulaire as probably the best for this purpose, possibly supplementing with Bulfinch if you want more detail.

Oh man. I used to own D'Aulaire's and Bulfinch's... I wonder if I still have them somewhere? It'd be tragic if I'd lost them. (I was hoping there would be an ~internet resource~ when I asked, but I guess there is not.)

I think Bulfinch is available online (it's public domain, so that's definitely *legal*), but I wouldn't know where to look.

EDIT: Google. Google was where to look. http://www.greekmythology.com/Books/Bul ... finch.html
