Sentinel: I got the impression the time travel was your downtime. Which would be ridiculous.

Sentinel: … And. Why would that be.
chronoteq: … You know I'm not really sure …
Sentinel: You realize that's not particularly helpful, right
chronoteq: yep. yes I do. … it's quite bizarre
Sentinel: … Your behavior?
chronoteq: yep. … I don't suppose you'd accept "plot hole" as an answer
Sentinel: What. No.
chronoteq: Mm.
Sentinel: …
chronoteq: Me neither.

In conclusion, I think: "embarrassed" and "squinting at the fourth wall". I could probably figure different snippets of a similar conversation if you're looking more for "looks suspiciously at the ceiling when a mysterious clone of himself appears in his room" or such.

Rescue: *is tinker-ported, loses her power, collapses an curls up into a little ball*
Deviskaryl: *has the street closed off, sends in a cat to sit with her, sends in a catvitar to sit with her when this turns out to take more than a real feline's attention span, sends in food*
Rescue, some days later: *uncurls slightly*
Deviskaryl: Hey. Don't freak out, I'm not going to hurt you. What happened?
Rescue, eventually, after freaking out some more: *explains backstory*
Deviskaryl: ...well, that's not in any way okay. There's nothing like that going on here, but I get that you still don't want to deal with people. Wilderness hideout, or city one? I'll make sure you have food and things either way.
Rescue: .......... city.
Deviskaryl: Sure. *sets that up, directs her to it, explains and offers blessings*
Rescue: *squints suspiciously at this*
Deviskaryl: Or not, that's fine too.
Rescue: *nods*

Deviskaryl checks on her pretty often after that, and is super patient with her. Rescue eventually becomes an acolyte; the path to that starts with her helping Deviskaryl go through the poetry contest entries one year. I don't think Rescue ever starts going out in public but she does end up with a couple pen pals. Deviskaryl arranges for her heart problem to get fixed; I'm not sure if blessing-grade healing will do it or she taps a visiting acolyte for it or what, but she makes it happen. It's not quite happily ever after, but it's pretty darn close as Rescue outcomes go.

Epic: They are married because he wanted her to run the country with him but they are not kissing because he's a Maitimo and all the Maitimos are gay. They're humans, they have paperwork marriages, so it works.
Library Elf: - I'm not gay.
Epic: I CAN'T HEAR YOU.

I’m pretty sure that when there’s a free will artifact and a Loki to wield it, getting a divorce is easier than getting a new new mom. I guess Library Elf wouldn’t think of it that way.

If you had been unethically reading my mind, you would have known I specifically meant the Epic in Earth, Meet Epic. Would that one have had the same conversation?

Chess (from a tree): And who might youuu be?
Ace: ...
Chess: (jumps down from tree, winds around Ace's ankles)
Ace: ...what are you doing?
Chess: I'm a cat, this is what cats do. ...You're supposed to pet me.
Ace: ...
Ace: (pets the cat, suspiciously)
Chess: (purring) Much better.

(Chess starts glowing where they touch. Ace's chest also starts glowing.)

Ace: ...uh.
Chess: Hmm?
Ace: (crouches down to inspect the glowy cat more closely)
Chess: (purrs, reaches up to bat at the glowing spot on his chest, because cats and shiny things)

(There is a flash of light. When it fades, the Cheshire Cat appears to have vanished. The Ace of Hearts doesn't seem to have noticed the tears spilling down his cheeks. He is smiling; it looks like he's trying on an expression he hasn't worn in years.)
