Elfthreads!
Re: Elfthreads!
Prettiest Bell yet! Sorry Cam, you still are my favorite Bell but Cor is prettier.
Re: Elfthreads!
Assuming the already-horrible precondition that the parents are dead, is there a reason that Elves would find it disgusting two people of the same gender to raise a kid together if the people weren’t in a romantic relationship themselves? I am reading “blue like I'd never known” and am surprised that they found Avalor’s foster parents shocking instead of jumping to the conclusion of “friends/relatives living together”. If Space Valinor doesn’t censor later seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I don’t see why they should assume that two real women are involved with each other.

Re: Elfthreads!
So I was catching up on "not some lighter color" and Curufinwe commented that they don't have many gay people because the Valar kept catching it and fixing it and it occurred to me to wonder whether/how much Tyelcormo's mind's gotten messed with/if he's still bisexual.
Edit: Curufinwe also just said no one alive is as good at languages as him; is that because Tyelperinquar is younger and has less experience with it?

Also, at least in an Arda, it seems like both “free will” and “ability to give oaths” are things that should be destroyable. Are there any such cycles like that, where you can destroy sequences of abstract things to get back to where you started?

I actually don't think free will is destructible.

Re: Elfthreads!
So Evil!Maitimo killed precisely twelve people. Who were they?
-Fingolfin and Anairë are confirmed.
-Turgon and Argon seem plausible.
-Finarfin, Finrod, Angrod, Aegnor, Galadriel make sense.
That's nine. If we're getting rid of everyone else in the line of succession besides Fingon and Aredhel, we need
-Findis and Írimë, children of Finwe and Indis.
-Idril and Orodreth, both of were born during the Years of the Trees.
But now we're at thirteen, so at least one of those people has to be alive. I also didn't include Indis, Eärwen, Elenwë, or Eldalótë. None of the first three are Noldor, so maybe Maitimo kept them alive? Then I can get to twelve if I assume only Indis's children and grandchildren (minus Fingon and Aredhel), but not great-grandchildren, were killed, along with Anairë and Eldalótë.
So my guess for the twelve is:
1. Fingolfin
2. Anairë
3. Turgon
4. Argon
5. Finarfin
6. Finrod
7. Angrod
8. Eldalótë
9. Aegnor
10. Galadriel
11. Findis
12. Írimë
Is that the group you had in mind, lintamande?

That's the right set of people, yes. Line of succession was secondary to 'will people rally behind them/ will they try to avenge their dead/enslaved relatives.' Aredhel gets a pass despite the fact she'd try to do that because she can also be used to threaten Findekáno and was not well /resourced/ to do it.

Re: Elfthreads!
Makes sense. What happened to the various non-Noldor spouses? Released to their people, held as hostages to extract concessions from the Vanyar and Teleri, something else?lintamande wrote:That's the right set of people, yes. Also, do you have any idea of what Nerdanel is up to in this world? Or was she assassinated with Feanor?

Re: Elfthreads!
I don't have a clear picture of what's up with Nerdanel. I think evil Maitimo trades Eärwen for swanships, the Vanyar probably just get let go.
