Re: The Glowfic Constellation
About the Daily Report, the only thing I'd personally need to have it completely replace Throne's is threads not disappearing from previous days just because they've been updated more recently, otherwise it is very good.
About settings vs. canons, the thing that seems to make the most sense is treating canons sort of like templates with perhaps more information, like who maed it (so fanfictional ones wouldn't be any glowficcer's but canons like daevinity would) and a description and whatnot, and instances of it with perhaps specific characteristics, but I'm not sure what potentially weird things might happen here.
About the intro section I should perhaps finish reordering that what-is doc with people's suggestions (like making history a less prominent part of it and focusing more on what it actually is), other than that what else is there?

So, now if you load a post and it has unread replies, the reply editor (at the bottom of the page) will warn you so you don't accidentally respond halfway through a series of a coauthor's replies. Also, if you commit a reply (press save) and there are new unread replies in the post, it'll direct you to the preview page and warn you, with a link to the unread replies. (No, it doesn't show those replies.) This should prevent people from accidentally replying across each other if they don't communicate the tagging properly.
This is not the tidiest interface to go by, for this, especially the "redirect to reply preview when there are unread replies" thing, especially since it doesn't show the unread replies, just lets you know they exist and links you to them.
We could:
[Btw, if you see a warning and you press 'Save', it will override any further warnings – so, if it lets you know there are unread replies, and then someone replies since, it'll skip notifying you about this; if it didn't, it would mean you could be repeatedly barred from replying by someone else responding quicker than you (low chance) or it would mean people who have hidden the MWF from unread can't reply to it properly (due to another bug that is fixed separately).]
Opinions?

We could:
- Leave it as is (has drawbacks as listed above)
- Display the unread replies on the preview page (convenient! however it falls over if there are a lot of unread replies)
- Save a draft, redirect you to the unread reply, and break the flow of the page with a big glaring warning letting you know what's happened (your reply is still there, drafted, and here are your unread replies); comes with a drawback of "this is not standard UI", suggested by Pedro, requires feedback if we want it

Can't you just display the first e.g. 5 replies, with a note/link back to the thread in the appropriate case if there are more than that?Throne3d wrote:We could:

Re: The Glowfic Constellation
I can fix the repeat submission thing if I'm tricky about ids.
Re: The Glowfic Constellation
Minor request from a reader/lurker/non-author: the way to hide a continuity from unread is by using the dropdown menu on the unread page.
I keep trying to look for it on the individual continuity's page, and despite knowing it isn't there still expect it to be. Would it be possible to have a "hide from unread" button on the continuity page (by the favorite button perhaps?)

Re: The Glowfic Constellation
Throne made a fancy new Warn on Unread thing, I did some tweaks, and we also turned off the "don't update unread if the post/continuity is hidden" thing so that they would work nicely together. This may cause some weird behavior initially; if you see weird things and a couple refreshes doesn't fix it, please let me know.

Re: The Glowfic Constellation
So with the new post unread thing:
I was gonna post a thing, accidentally clicked preview, it said i had 3k+ unread messages (which wasn't true) and wouldn't let me actually post, I had to leave the page and reload that thread to post it.

Re: The Glowfic Constellation
Something appears to be woogly with character replacement: when I go to character replacement pages, I get a generic "Something went wrong" error page thingy.
Re: The Glowfic Constellation
@Pedro Did you have that post hidden by any chance? Like I said, we changed it so hidden posts wouldn't skip the Mark Read step, but I couldn't magically import history from the past, so any hidden post will be wrong for a bit. Fixable by loading the last page, since now it should mark them read as normal. And/or if you'd loaded the page before my change went out it would think you hadn't read the post at all; again, fixable on refresh, so the page now knows how to submit information properly.
@Kappa yep saw the error emails but had friends over, fix is pushing now
