Re: The Glowfic Constellation
And you're not, like, reading them while accidentally logged out, like maybe you're logged in on glowfic.com but you're reading them on www.glowfic.com or something?
Re: The Glowfic Constellation
...aaaagh. That is a sufficient explanation. On that device I'm logged in on www.glowfic.com but not glowfic.com, and the Daily Report has links to //glowfic.com.
Can we please have a redirect instead of this nonsense?

Re: The Glowfic Constellation
People didn't decide which of those they liked best. Or rather, I think there was a small majority at the time for "glowfic.com but not if it's going to have that stupid problem where it redirects to those other weird sites for no reason every so often".
Re: The Glowfic Constellation
If you set your theme to one that is a little different from the default, it's easier to notice when you're logged out.

Re: The Glowfic Constellation
There was a DNS issue for a while where it redirected us to Lexile instead of the Constellation (or occasionally Bluefin Labs) when you visited glowfic.com instead of www.glowfic.com.
That said, the proper fix here is probably just to fix login to work across *glowfic.com and then have you guys log in again.

Re: The Glowfic Constellation
That does sound like a good fix but it wouldn't solve the (minor) issue of your browser tracking your history separately between the subdomains. (I don't care very strongly about that though.)
Edit: For clarity I'm not referring to the unread page here, I'm talking about link colors that your browser provides based on whether you've visited a page or not.

Yeah that's a pretty minor issue.
Re: The Glowfic Constellation
Browser history stuff is also among the reasons I would like there to be only one domain.

Re: The Glowfic Constellation
One convenient feature (probably the only convenient feature) of being able to be logged into to one of the two domains but not the other is that when someone links to a random reply deep in a thread I haven't finished reading without identifying it as such I can click on it without having to worry about losing my position. I am all in favor of unifying the two domains but it would be nice if there was some way to prevent this scenario from occurring. Maybe making it so that coming to a thread from a page not in the glowfic.com domain wouldn't update the location of the last read post in the thread? Or adding something to the permalink URLs which had the same effect?
