Effulgence Fandom Ideas
Re: Effulgence Fandom Ideas
More television of suspect quality from my childhood: Sabrina the Teenage Witch! It features a reality warping extremely racist government that really deserves a serious toppling. I think there are probably oodles of horrible mind magic too but I forget the specifics.

Also Salem could probably be a Cricket with minimal trouble.

Television is generally going to be harder to sell me on than written (especially available online) stuff because it requires chunks of relatively dedicated time.

I'm not sure how it didn't occur to me to suggest Sabrina already, but then I never watched more than an episode or two (no TV as a kid, it's OK, I had the Internet) and I wouldn't necessarily *notice* if it wasn't in-my-face obvious just due to lack of familiarity. It does seem like a good choice of canonical material, but if the relevant authors didn't watch it already then yeah, lots of time investment.
Re: Effulgence Fandom Ideas
Bewitched was also a very nice tv show from the 1960's if maybe the authors have seen it.

Greek mythology!
Before this gets shot down, I'm gonna rant about how much the garden-variety, all-myths-are-true, anacronisms-be-damned Greek mythology verse is in dire need of some hubristic transhumanists. It's inadequately supervised by a bunch of people whose preferred activity on Olympus is bickering and on Earth is rape. They have immortality literally growing on trees, and they refuse to distribute it. Instead, they actively force humans to die, to the point that when someone once neutralized one of their minions humans became temporarily unkillable. If the gods had their way, humans would still be unintelligent apes poking around in the clay, and every step away from that has been fought and won against them. They have been known to smite people for a frankly embarrassing list of excuses. And they need to be gone.
There could be Tony as Dedalus, with Talos being Sherlock. Prometheus is basically already an Adarin, but I guess this thread has "Effulgence" in the title. Athena as a Joker would be really funny, not because it's character-appropriate at all but just because Zeus knows he'd be overthrown if that had been a son, thought he was safe with a daughter, and his confusion would be entertaining if his kid's gender had been "Joker."
Also if Aphrodite is a Chelsea then this could be a chance for her to come up against a non-defended Bell. Since mental opacity is not even close to the kinds of powers people get in the source material, and I think I read somewhere that Alicorn was waiting for a chance to do that.
But mainly I'd want to see if a Bell comes up with a more ethically comfortable method than I could for a mortal to overthrow the Olympians.
OK, you can all commence shooting this down now.

Nemo, I was just thinking something along those lines a few days ago, but I wasn't thinking it in as much detail as you have here. I approve, though. This would be interesting to read.

...I'd totally be one hundred percent on board for this as a Resplendence 'verse, since you've templated characters from all three authors into the source material. But also, I'd want more source material. Where do I go to read tons of good myths?
