The Mirror Snake

Post by Transreal Clouden »

Hi, I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum for this but I'm reading Silmaril and I got to see the Mirror Snake for the nth time in glowfic so far. I'm really curious about where the idea came from does anyone know?

Dreamward, I'm pretty sure! A portal snake one time ate another portal snake and then it was no longer in Dreamward, cue shenanigans where it eats other people and transports them away.

I forget who, but a clever forum user suggested it as a barely-plausible method of travel. It somehow became standard shorthand for "act of plot."

Honestly the prevalence of portalsnaking as a plot device kind of suggests that portalface demons are, like, intensely cannibalistic.

There might just be one particular portalsnake template who really likes eating other portalsnakes. (It's probably a purple.)
