So if you wanted to annoy another daeva with a regular summoning gig you could change your name to theirs? (Or keep your name as "Fred" but decide that it will be spelled "Elizabeth" from now on?)

I think somewhere in a thread it said it also went partially by summoner intention. I only know one fairy named Elizabeth, so I don’t care about /frεd/. Plus they probably use other specifiers for repeated jobs.

Can a daeva on a task with a payment of “whatever you want from me” stall out the earnest progress requirement to shred the binding? I expected Minor would start talking to his emergency summoner.

"whatever you can extract from me" and "whatever you want from me" seem possibly relevantly different there? Anyway if he could've figured out how to communicate it Minor could probably have demanded something she was capable of but unwilling to do (drawn a circle for unbound Cam, indicated she should finish it?) and then the gag comes off but the summoner would find this utterly terrifying and he wouldn't do that unless people were actively dying over something he'd easily be able to fix once he could talk (and couldn't fix faster just by getting dismissed and then writing his brothers for a summons and a door+fairy).

Not sure if this has been asked before, but does completing a circle without a daeva answering make you a summoner?

Yeah one has to show up. You don't have to task them but they do have to show.

Can daeva "change" names for the purpose of summoning? Or at least add to the list of valid names?

Can you summon a daeva by name if their name is the empty string? Maybe you want a daeva who just appeared for some reason; namelessness seems like a decent proxy for that.
