The Glowfic Constellation

Do you have a setting, character, plot, art, or other notion that you wish to put on the Internet? This is the Internet! Whee!

Change is in; DNS change will propagate slowly over the next roughly 24-48 hours. I tried to add the max number of name servers (Namecheap supports 12) but got an error, so we're at nine for now (west, central and eastern US, UK, France, Netherlands, Germany, Singapore, and Australia; the rest were basically geographic duplicates anyway). Let me know if you have any troubles connecting to any of the four domains http(s)://(www.)glowfic.com, but everything's working from my side.

The button says "Mark Unread from here" but it still seems to mark unread from the next reply, not this one.

http://www.glowfic.com/ seems to not be working for me, can't find the server for any of its pages, but the heroku's doing fine?

I think it’s probably the DNS changes but I don’t know if they’ll fix themselves within 24–48 hours or not.

For me (using Google's DNS, after having just done 'ipconfig /flushdns'), all of the following seem to work:

https://www.glowfic.com/
https://glowfic.com/
http://www.glowfic.com/
http://glowfic.com/

Is it just http://www.glowfic.com? Can you get it to work without the www. or with https or both? Or is anything with glowfic.com failing?

Request with nothing to do with the Complicated Things being discussed above: when I'm on a thread and favorite it, I get redirected to my Favorites page. I would find it preferable to be redirected to the page of the thread I was already on. If other people agree, could that be the default behavior?

Re: DNS:

It works, both with and without www, on my phone using the data plan. On my computer or home wifi, it fails for both. When I investigate with dig I can still find information with +trace (ask the actual root DNS servers on up, instead of the usual server and its cache), but without the option I get no data.

I’m trying to figure out how to flush my router’s cache, but I suspect the problems will go away in a few days at least.

Update: Either rebooting the router (its web interface wasn’t working until I did) or changing its DNS provider to Google’s worked; I should have checked between those two steps.

Well, we've got a day or so to go with DNS, please tell me if it continues to do the thing.

Updates:
- Favorites link is now in the top menu; the menu sizes were unbalanced and it was distressing me.
- Favorites now try very hard to redirect you back where you started when you favorite something. (I almost missed preserving page number; let me know if I did in fact miss something.)
- Fixed a bug where if you moved a post with id x out of a continuity, all posts with id > x with no replies would be incorrectly marked as tagged. (I see you, linear d. Stop that.)
- Throne added some CSS classes to things for the sake of his ePub scraper.
- Throne fixed it so that application timeouts will now appear in my email and in our NewRelic error tracking, rather than exclusively in log files.
- Throne added a test helper to handle timestamps better because timestamp precision can differ across machines and operating systems and cause tests to fail.
- Throne added a character's setting to their profile page.

I am willing to share this even despite not having a formal staging environment because I have both a local development environment and a bunch of tests (and Heroku is TERRIBLE about staging environments):
