[Alicorn]

"Oh, you think you can work better from some kind of - conversation engine. Okaaaay... lemme think, I don't have a list of those offhand." Cam picks up one of his computers with his own data on it, goes through its security, investigates notes. Backs out of the security again. Then he makes a datastick, picks up the computer with the English corpus, and feeds it a few programs from the datastick - the NPC conversational engine and speech synth from a relatively recent, relatively realistic computer game; an extranet chatbot he's heard of that's at least ten years old but can't hurt; and, for thoroughness, a dictionary/thesaurus and translator program that's loaded up with a few languages he knows besides English in case the xenopsychologist would find it easier to express this or that concept in Chinese. "Like that?"

[Armok]

It PANGS away. Another short delay.

Then she bobs up and down excitedly again, communicating through body language the attitude best summarised as "^_^" despite having no face.

"Yes! Exceeding!"

[Alicorn]

"Okay, great, hopefully that will help."

[Armok]

"Yes. Future communicate assist."

The pressure dropping suddenly accelerates, and the room jerks slightly.

"Small future orbit, demonstrate black hole? Pause. Systematic learn get!"

A refrigerator sized slab of dull grey metal appears, featureless except for a cylindrical cavity about the size of a bucket filled with magical blue light. The force field drops and the alien floats over indicating the hole with a hologram.

"Put manipulate branch part, demonstrate magic make!"

[Alicorn]

"I don't know what you're talking about except that you keep asking me to make black holes without showing any sign of understanding why I think that might be a bad idea. Are you aware that they're radioactive? Does this force field thing prevent gravity from working through it? What are you hoping to even learn by watching me make one?"

[Armok]

"Present black hole NO! FUTURE demonstrate outside. Present branch demonstrate unbihexium iridium anything observe copy."

[Alicorn]

"...How about we wait for you to figure out the chat programs I gave you and then we try this again? I do not currently want to make a black hole at all and you are not good enough at speaking English to convince me otherwise. What do you want unbihexium or iridium for?"

[Armok]

"Time! Make ANYTHING location."

She points more vigorously at the hole, with her entire body, apparently frustrated.
