It still works even in their number system, if page one says think of a large number and two says read three if it was divisible by four.
I don't remember why all the Jabberwocky seemed like a good idea at the time, but the words also don't mean what Carroll says they mean so being wrong is almost as impossible as being right. (Also, there was a bunch of Kubla Khan in Doriath and some of the Raven in Hillsglade House. Though all of that made sense at least grammatically.)

That could work, but I expect there’s an equivalent to three and seven being chosen more often.
Elven without the given definitions I think I would have come up with the same definition for gyre, and I expect it’s also what most other people, including you, imagine. It might be fair to say that it in particular means what Carroll says. I can’t find for sure either way if he commented on the intended meanings of chortle and galumph, although both are listed in dictionaries as portmanteaux in the same style as his definitions so it’s likely.

In any case, I want to take that thread’s Findekáno and Maitimo and remind them of the “and by fear of treason” clause. There is a lot of fearing treason going on, and it is causing a lot more damage than any likely treason would. I’m not entirely sure what damage Maitimo expects if they learn he didn’t set the ships on fire (I know be explained it but I don’t remember), but what is actually happening is I’m pretty sure worse.
Note: I am not caught up in the thread; some or all of this might no longer apply

I was wondering why everyone was making such very, very bad decisions.

Yep, they're Doomed and it does them no favors (the Doom is, like, a nudge in the direction of your worst inclinations? a stronger nudge for people more directly involved, which includes all of our heroes). That said, Maitimo is afraid that if he goes around going "I had NOTHING TO DO WITH that STUPID SHIP MANEUVER' his father will cease talking to or listening to him, and he is correct to be worried about this, that is in fact what his father would do (and not even because of the Doom, because Fëanor.)

And they can’t redirect the issue to the Ice, where they can truthfully claim they didn’t expect the other host to cross, because that didn’t actually cause much problem this time around.

Setting is a kitchen-sink-fantasy original to Maggie and the thread serves as a good introduction to it. Particularly Good as a setting intro and also because oh my word tiny Jesus Bell. Toplevel post features a look at the Effulgence concept of "BEEs" that Effulgence itself hasn't gotten around to. May be revived soonish.
What is a BEE?
Re: Sandbox Discussions
A BEE is a shiny person (spoilerland!)

AndaisQ, since you don’t have an author thread:

Isabella didn't try giving Liz eidetic memory? Or is it not possible since she didn't have it before?
