Bold for anything with unread posts, opened or not, is fairly standard.

Put an icon where the arrow goes for new threads? That makes sense from a workflow sort of perspective; having an icon in that spot means 'there's something new to read here', and if I'm clicking up the line of arrows I can easily click the new icon too.

When I'm viewing lists of threads -- on unread, in a continuity, wherever -- I would love to have a heart icon, in the style of the "warning" or "completed" icons, to indicate threads I've favorited.

Quintuple bonus points if the heart is clickable to fave/unfave things.

Seconded, but I want star instead of heart because hearts are usually red and warnings are currently red.
