Oooh, languages.
How powerful is this ability? Is the daeva's (acquired) fluency capped to the summoner's fluency?

Also:
Googling produces no useful results for Támádh, even after stripping out accent marks. Am I missing something?"Enjoy your new knowledge of obscure techical vocabulary in Támádh," Jarvis says dryly.

The language thing copies approximate fluency but not exact vocabulary.
Támádh is a Sunnyverse demon language of kappa's devising.

Re: Sandbox Discussions
Out of pure linguistic geekiness, do the acute accents over the 'a's indicate a change in pitch, stress, length, or some other thing? Also, I am assuming the dh is pronounced as a voiced dental fricative (/ð/; the sound th stands for in "them") - is that accurate?

Re: Sandbox Discussions
That is indeed accurate! Hang on, I've got a chart...
Each of those letters or pairs-of-letters represents one symbol in the Támádh alphabet.
Code: Select all
á fAther, sOng
â whAt, trUck
ä cAt, lAdder, sAd
é sAY, nEIgh
ê lEt, sEt
í mEEk, frEE
î sIt, pIck
ó nO, gO
áì dIE, trY, fIre
äu nOW, lOUd
éì sAY, nEIgh (but with subtle differences from a bare 'é' - like plAYer rather than AIr)
êì No English equivalent; pronouncing like 'éì' is close enough
w Closest English equivalent in floWer, Wet; sOOn/dUE would be a mostly adequate substitute
ý dIE, trY, fIre (but with subtle differences from 'áì' - spoken shorter, draws out differently)
m triM, Mother
f staFF, Furniture
v Volume, aVerse
l Load, aLL
dh THem, anoTHer
th THin, cloTH
d Derelict, reD
t Ton, aTTracT
s thiS, Several
n Not, alteratioN
r waR, Real
hr As 'h' followed by 'r'; English does this in 'her' and nowhere else I know of
k luCK, Kill
h Hat, unHoly

Re: Sandbox Discussions
While I am utterly squeeing out that you have a whole phonetic alphabet chart, I run into the problem that your dialect clearly does vowels differently from mine, because the a in "father" and the o in "song" are different vowels when I say them. Do you know IPA?
my best guesses at IPA for Támádh
Would anyone be interested in a new thread in which to discuss conlangs? Because I will be totally happy to create that thread and continue this conversation there to avoid derailing this one.
