To clarify your clarification, do you mean that the rule refers to the sequence of letters independently of its status an English word so that you might if you wanted check if a sequence of letters matched and only then check to see if it were well-formed?
book

keeper
keep

keeps
witch
bells
bell
which
I’d also check “witching”, “witches”, and “belling” if I had space.
Edit: @kappa, did you deliberately misspell parallelogram or was that accidental or is that an accepted variant I’ve never heard of?

Kappa: All no.
DanielH: Your understanding is correct. 'keeper' and 'keep' are yes. I took your extras too.

I was indecisive about what word I wanted to put there and edited it a few too many times. I went and reverted it, but then Unbitwise responded to what I had originally posted. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

'boon' and 'orange' yes.
Free hint: everything is at least four letters long.
