At this rate we’ll have him making friends with Sauron and Midnight.

The second bit of Hogwarts weirdness we heard about is incompatible with bead-and-string mapping; a corridor going somewhere else if you have gone down it before doesn’t give a nice graph theory representation, planar or otherwise. Do I misunderstand what they’re trying to achieve with their maps?

Mostly off topic, I find it interesting how many common fanon elements of Harry Potter are almost completely unsupported by canon. For example, in canon, the Four-Point Spell (Point Me) is only mentioned as pointing North. And the relevant one to the current thread: the entire textual support of Hogwarts changing around is eight words:
J. K. Rowling wrote:There were a hundred and forty-two staircases at Hogwarts: wide, sweeping ones; narrow, rickety ones; some that led somewhere different on a Friday; some with a vanishing step halfway up that you had to remember to jump.
As far as I can tell, this is the entirety of the canon textual support for Hogwarts moving around (other than one Room moving its entrance as Required). The movies take it farther, but not that much farther. Elsewhere in the series we see that almost always Hogwarts is pretty consistent. When looking for North Tower, they climb a lot of stairs, and see that it can’t be “that way” because they could see the lake out the window, and the lake was to the South. But the extreme geographic flexibility is found in plenty of fanfiction; I’m pretty sure that’s not just MoR-influenced works.

Petty historical nitpick re this post: Wikipedia seems to think that the term 'economics' wasn't generally used until the late 19th century; would've been 'political economy' instead.

I’m catching up on Two Hells, and I’m pretty sure that Matt would be far more comfortable if he could disavow identity with—and maybe even althood with, but that would be harder—Midnight.

We edited a bit earlier to make this clearer, but he has the morph, hasn't used it, had someone else listening in while he was Andalite-shaped and talking to Charlie's Yeerk.

Ah, that makes much more sense, I had indeed read those posts before the edits.
