Both have awesome world building.

Ooh, I forgot this thread existed! I'll second The Arithmancer and The Accidental Animagus.
I have a whole pile of (mostly HP) fic recs that I can drop here if people are interested. Let's start with Hit the Ground Running and Seventh Horcrux, two completely different takes on "the Horcrux in Harry's head wakes up."

I second this rec a lot. Really really a lot. I reread it a couple days ago and my fiancé kept looking me in confusion when I randomly started cackling. (He's about a third of the way through and is enjoying it, but has informed me he needs periodic breaks to recover from all the unsubtle shippery. AO3 is not quite the place for him.)

By introducing the image of Bucky Barnes wearing nothing but night-vision goggles and combat boots, I feel as if I've really done the world a service.
This woman is doing the Lord's work.
Sorry for my bad english

Resurrecting this thread to recommend boy with a scar, four amazing ~10k standalone HP fics. They'll make you tear up, especially the third chapter (which is probably my favorite), so make sure you're prepared for that going in.
