What about when something that would normally go against the sort of person he is would be an exception? Using the mind control example, what if he encountered somebody who wanted some form of mind control applied (like how Promise got Yellow to give her some orders instead of just rescind them)?
Edit: A better example might be somebody who wanted to fall in love with their wolf, or become gay to avoid the risk of having children, or something.

Re: Nuime (soul artifacts thing)
I would put "consensual mental alteration" in a different category from "mind control".

I was wondering more about the general case: could he get a power that would normally not fit him at all but where there’s some exception in a particular situation. Consensual mental alterations would, I would expect, be the same power as mind control used differently, so I am guessing yes. Unless if he got such a power it would actually check consent like a Chris’s usually does?

It would take some serious Circumstances for Taliar to get a mind-affecting power that did not respect consent. Even his healing aura respects consent. Anyone in the radius can withdraw from it and decline to be affected.
If a situation came up where someone needed contingency orders or a love spell or gayification, and he had the power to spare and they got him highly invested in the situation and waited out the powershift interval, he would probably end up with a very specific, very consent-respecting applicable power. It might even turn out more like 'give this person the temporary capacity to change themselves in the relevant way' rather than 'change this person contingent on their consent'.

Re: Nuime (soul artifacts thing)
How would his power react to things like sunnivamps where we have a new person in the body that used to have a soul?
Sorry for my bad english

Hmmm. I think that's another branch of the 'how do soul artifacts interact with death' question, which I still haven't figured out and probably should.
Re: Nuime (soul artifacts thing)
I was imagining that soul artifacts would react like daemons to sunnyvampirism: some changes in appearance and behavior but keep existing.
What sort of powers would different Jokers get? It sounds like the retirees would get the strongest powers because they seem to be the most Jokerish of the lot according to deck consensus.

Hmm...
Jokers might get accelerated powershift as their slightly system-breaking feature, actually. The specific powers that a Joker got would depend a lot on their specific circumstances, but changing powers quickly to adapt to new situations might be a template-wide thing.
They'd gain power as they tended toward the retiree phase in the Joker life cycle, but even the least Jokerlike Jokers are very very themselves by most standards.

What is the reason why artifacts are not a thing everybody makes all the time? Specifically, why didn't Taliar have one since, like, age 2.
