Unbitthread
Re: Unbitthread
I just thought of a general excuse for characters to be merely hanging around in Milliways even if they see the easily obtainable value in the place and have no need for secrecy.
“We (figured out | were reliably informed) that you can do that but things work out way better if you go with the flow and meet people. So now we mainly just have people here on rotation, and that's me right now.”
Anyone interested in a no-particular-grand-idea nobody's-stranded-outside-their-universe sandbox thread on this sort of basis?

Re: Unbitthread
There is a door.
It is a door.
It never opens to the same place.
It opens, now.
A person walks in.
It shuts, and opens again.
The person walks in again.
The person has a conversation.
The conversation continues.
The door opens again.
Worlds hold their breath.
The door opens again.
The door opens again.
The door.
The gathering.
It grows.
It glows.
It is a door.
It never opens to the same place.

Re: Unbitthread
Announcement:
I am not doing any glowfic right now. I would like to change this. The caveat is I'm feeling short on inspiration for worldbuilding and related things and that's what's stalled most of what I could otherwise be updating. Therefore, I'm generally interested in starting a new thread with anyone who cares to provide a setting/plot to get things going, so I can just write my characters or at least bootstrap from that.
(Involving claimverse is not a requirement; I haven't done any alts before but I'm willing to try.)

Re: Unbitthread
Above desire-to-glowfic statement still applies. In other news:
I have become convinced that I need to flesh out claimverse's conlang (from being a few scraps of vocabulary) and that this will probably change the spelling of existing words. But I haven't actually gotten started on that project.
I'm also slowly putting together a new setting where the fundamental idea that there are portals between places where the fundamental laws are different — and the portals and the places can be designed, and are used routinely.

Re: Unbitthread
I now have a younger, Earthly alt for Thanjen, so he's available for situations that require that sort of background.
Re: Unbitthread
I have a headache today and therefore I wrote the beginning of the following and then decided to continue until I ran out of ideas and also had fourteen.
Enemies you cannot, or should not, punch in the face:
1. Ones that are stronger than you
2. Abstract ones
3. Headaches
4. Ones which buzz like flies around your head
5. Those who are the Emperor's guards
6. Those who are the Emperor
7. Those who are so long dead that they are dust on the wind
8. Ghosts
9. Those who accost you while you are wearing your good clothes
10. Those who live in the Empire of the Stars
11. Those who firmly insist on being included in this classification
12. Thorny ones
13. Those lacking a face
14. Your own past self

Re: Unbitthread
I feel like 11 might not work well in practice (if you are fighting an enemy and let them dictate the terms of the fight you will lose), and that (being a Joker) Alice is probably an exception to 10, but the rest of that list looks mostly like good advice.
Right before I posted this, my future self punched me in the face. Maybe there’s a problem with 14 that I am not yet aware of too, but I don’t know what.
