Have we seen the dimension Sauron mentioned in cry for cancellation? It sounds like an oversimplification of Materia.

How does one pronounce lintamande?
The WAFFLES will submit to this indignity.

Are The Giving Trees and/or The Psion the Witch and the Wardrobes going to be in At The End of All Things continuity? Timeframe and setup in the latter thread seems about right for that...

(If so, squee)

Yep. Original setup for Idaia was "hey, lintamande, you know how people keep getting chucked into First Age Arda and successfully solving the things? What if, instead of that, they died and reincarnated into At The End Of All Things, I think that would be an interesting way to put someone into At The End Of All Things.

Also, due to Daphne's "nonhuman biological father" attractors this version of her is an eighth elf.

Re: Vala disappoints

At first I was afraid Aydanci would die and not get Cycle-style reincarnation. I am less worried about this possibility now that I realize that if he dies without that he would get resurrected when the alts come, and being reincarnated is worse and therefore more likely.

Also I don’t know is Aestrix wants to participate in Silmaril, especially with an Adarin, and this is possibly a bigger factor in deciding the exact circumstances of Aydanci’s death.

Aestrix has been very obliging about cameos, but it's hard to coordinate three-person boxen and she's less available these days than she once was, so I'm NPCing Aydanci and arranging things to make him particularly NPC-able. I did clear "hey is it cool if we brutally murder Aydanci" with her in advance.

Three guesses for what my thoughts on brutal murder and angsty drama were. :)

(It was unbridled glee and 'I will HELP WITH THE DIALOGUE LET'S DO THIS.')

More thoughts on oaths!

Can you abuse the use/mention distinction to give the appearance of swearing an oath when in fact you're just quoting it? (If it's hard to form the intentions correctly to do that, maybe you could swear before going to a parley "if the other party proposes an oath I want to agree to, I swear I will quote what they just said to them"?)

Could you use (time-limited, maybe) mind-altering oaths to get the perks of greenmagery? ("I swear to like broccoli for the next year"? "I swear to no longer have akrasia"? "I swear not to mind working on this project every waking hour until the war's over"?)

Can you use it for recreational psychological effects? Like, "I swear to be euphoric for the next half hour."
