Ooh. Yeah, being richer is a possibility. In what way are they more magic? I can't find anything skimming the article.
Re: Templating ASOIAF
It's not really clear what exact type of magic they have but in the most recently released ASOIAF there have been references to Lord Leyton Hightower having secluded himself in his tower for a decade studying spell books. It is probably going to be revealed in the next two books what is in the book but it's currently unknown. The series is doing the magic comes back plot so a lot of how magic works is only beginning to be explained. Also Oldtown where House Hightower is based is home of the Citadel where the Maesters are trained, The Citadel is basically the scholarly centre of all of Westeros so Lord Hightower potentially has access to more magical tomes than anyone else.
They rival the Lannisters (generally considered the richest house in Westeros) in wealth, maybe even surpassing them later in the series.

Ooh. Okay, then yeah, Maria can be a Hightower and Howard can be a Stark and all is well. XD

I would really like to see Girl!Sherlock kicking mysoginistic ass and ascending to the Kingsguard.
It would be probably easier adapting ASOIAF Effulgence by doing something similar to what you guys did with the Avatar world, jumping the thing years in the future, albeit it also takes a lot of the charm that comes from the culture-that-isnt-made-to-our-sensibilities that ASOIAF have.
How well would a Joker fare over dealing with another culture, possible one more restrictive?

Urgh, sorry, that was a really bad word vomit and eurocentric statement.Kappa wrote:...what do you mean, dealing with a more restrictive culture?
Let me rephrase...
In my opinion the Dothraki culture isn't exactly Joker friendly and if you follow Daenerys story, a Joker would be pretty much sold to a Dothraki leader and then would need to learn it and it's rituals and be potentially punished if not following them.

If the joker was from that culture, he'd be used to it.

Re: Templating ASOIAF
Does Daenerys have to deal with that sort of thing? In what way does she deal with it?
Re: Templating ASOIAF
(It's been a while since I read the relevant book(s), but:)
She does have to deal with some of it; she manages by ignoring everything but the actually-required, sensible-in-context, or personally-convenient bits and basically powering through the stuff that she can't avoid; there isn't much of the latter but the stuff that there is is pretty gross.

Re: Templating ASOIAF
I feel like a Joker could manage that.
