(lintamande is in finals week but) My guess is that just means they fade, go to Mandos when dead, etc., not that they can't travel per se.

That's what I thought at first, but then people would say that they were tied to Aman. Unless you mean that no matter what they will eventually return to Arda when they die, even though they can reject the call of Mandos?

Perhaps they are woven into the fabric of Creation, and wherever they go they bring a part of Arda with them.

Song magic I actually decided that the songs have to be composed in Arda and thereafter work outside of it but you can't improvise elsewhere and lintamande was like "okay" so now that's how it works in our threads.

The definition of planet set in Prague, Czech Republic in August 2006 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) states that, in the Solar System, a planet is a celestial body which:

is in orbit around the Sun,
has sufficient mass to assume hydrostatic equilibrium (a nearly round shape), and
has "cleared the neighborhood" around its orbit.

Arda is technically not a planet. Nor is it a dwarf planet.

Possibly they need to invent a new classification of 'elf planet'.

Sure it is. It is in orbit around the Sun once a Sun exists. It certainty has enough mass to assume hydrostatic equilibrium; it has been prevented from doing so for other reasons. And its orbit is clear.

Alternatively, it can be a cylinder planet, a category it shares with Suranse.
