When you find the non-blank signpost, can you turn around and walk the Path again?
Maybe you're Voldemort and prefer it to dying in decades, or maybe you're just really hoping to perfect the skill of defusing a Genesis device in 2.6 seconds.

(Lurker is shrieking about this path thing, by the way. How To Break A Kobold. *chuckle*)

If you are trying to perfect painting, or torture, or anything else which is best done while still, will the path let you stop walking in order to do that?
Could the path work for perfecting lucid dreaming, or would that not work because you don’t get tired?
What if the virtue you want to perfect is sneaking around, including lockpicking and getting into whatever location you want? Presumably that would require doors, which Milliways might hijack. In fact, it seems like it might require getting the ability to get Milliways doors whenever you want (possibly from another traveller on the path teaching you sorcery if necessary). Would you then not be able to leave Milliways anywhere except back to the Path?

I kinda wanna send Chell on a Path...
Re: Mori's Minions
Lurker has calmed down with the shrieking, a bit.
If you put a Lurker on a Path, you don't get a Lurker back. It's entirely possible that you don't get anything back; kobolds, Lurker included, do poorly enough without their tribes that there's a decent chance she eventually just stops moving and doesn't start again, even given the angels.
If you do get something back, it's not a kobold any more. Her thing is 'to understand and to be understood'; this ends up including things like learning shapeshifting, to better display body language comprehensible to other people. Learning tech. Learning to make some kinds of tech - translators and things. Translation magic. Telepathy. ALL the cultures, until she gets a meta-understanding and can derive a culture's traits from first principles and a few seconds' casual observation. Speaking to animals, maybe. She travels as an angel for a while; she travels with any number of other travelers, as a helper, including especially of people she has the most trouble understanding: I don't think she ever personally tortures anyone, but she definitely observes a few and I bet she's not getting out without helping with one. She definitely winds up spending some time with a Carp elf, and not a particularly friendly one, which may be the point at which she stops being able to think of herself as a kobold.
And in the end, it's just too big. She comes out of it, she's not a kobold - she looks like a kobold, but she's not one - she's probably not even especially fond of them any more, compared to other cultures. I'm not sure she can have preferences between cultures at this point.
She does know they wouldn't want her - not if they understood her, and they would - so she doesn't even try to go back, she just goes.

Re: Mori's Minions
You say she might stop considering herself a kobold when she spends time with Carp elves? Is there no way for that meeting to go peacefully and productively without the Path (or without the elf being like Dusk)?
Re: Mori's Minions
I'm not going to say 'not at all' - have a Miles land on Carp and I could see him pulling it off, even if he somehow didn't manage to get Dusk involved - but it'd take much more careful handling than the Path seems inclined to do, to arrange a situation/get her in a headspace where that isn't a pretty fundamental betrayal of her species.

Re: Mori's Minions
I felt bad later. I have decided that headcanon will dictate he returns to Bubbles verse and invents the canon (siege, not fanfic). This will let him reconcile with his estranged father and make him proud of the continued family trade of siege warfare. He will promptly make peace with the various families with his newfound fortune. A wild spell will shunt him forward in time and space to the Star Trek universe. And then somehow he'll interact with the Elements to give advice or something. Not brain enough to read the Elements post currently to think about it.Moriwen wrote:(c) <3 <3 <3 the continuing trebuchet saga
EDIT: OP Links to the settings exist already. I am a dumb right now.
Aestrix is clearly the best person of all time, I worship the ground she walks on.
