Re: Sandbox Discussions
The Nariveth that is in the Barrayar box went through the apprentice trial exactly as it happened in the apprentice-to-Occlus box, and is in fact still apprenticed to Occlus. The difference is that several years of being a sith are packed between her trials and early apprenticeship and where she's at in the Barrayar box.

That's actually a bit alarming! Does the king just not have jurisdiction over Winged Ones, or has everyone who was already winged when he was crowned since died, or ?I've been king of Aluvanna longer than any of my subjects has been alive.

Re: Sandbox Discussions
Part of the reason Dalvor hates the Enemy so much is that turnover among winged ones was already nonzero (accidents and wars both happen), and then the Enemy came along and suddenly you're lucky if you make it to what would have been the end of your mortal lifespan. Winged ones are so much better at fighting the Enemy than non-winged people, but unfortunately they still tend to die eventually.

We may scrap and restart the Sadde+Amariah continuity. If you like what's there you might choose to rescue it.
Re: Sandbox Discussions
If anyone wants a copy of it, as of approximately 15 minutes ago, here's a link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5Wkt ... TRpZXp3Yzg
It doesn't seem to have any glaring errors, after having a quick look through it.
... Unless either Alicorn or Pedro doesn't want it available in EPUB format? (It seems a shame to lose it, is all.)

Holy shit."In our people, to create a thing that enhances the world, or the joy of its inhabitants, is a great good. Everyone will know your name, and desire to study under you, and there'll be festivals, and they'll start thinking of you as collective property and crushing you under the weight of their demands for narrative perfection as well as engineering perfection until you're isolated, paranoid, and beloved by all."
(The whole thing is wonderful and I am super excited to see Miles uplift the elves to become a spacefaring civilization. That or lead a mass breakout from the Halls of Mandos.)

Miles is gonna do SOMETHING, that's for sure. Miles is going to do a minimum of one Thing and most likely several.
Re: Sandbox Discussions
Written before I read the page with the awakening ritual and everything that follows: Why has Sadde not asked how traditionalist spirits feel about genderfluidity? Even if it won’t affect her decision, they will need to know it.

Re: Sandbox Discussions
'Cause Sadde is Generally Reckless and it genuinely didn't occur to them before that time that the spirits would get annoyed by that kind of thing, plus they're rushing into it because they don't want to be a nice appetising snack to all of those monsters they've been hunting for years without knowing they were in fact monsters. Their reasoning is something like "I've spent all these years on the brink of actually recognising monsters for what they are, now that I can actually see them I'm screwed".
