Daily Reports Chatter

If it's germane, yet doesn't fit into another category, it can go here.

Internet: nope. Progress, the phone jack did definitely need replacing, but that wasn't sufficient. Next step is talking to my ISP and I bet they're going to have to send a guy to move a wire on a switchboard again. (Such dumb infrastructure, this is not the future I was promised, ugh.)

I have heard that some ISPs have the practice of 'Send a cheap, dumb technician twice. If issue persists, send one of the crack team.' So if the issue continues, third time may be the charm.

Tuesday early afternoon, knock wood.

4/7 report tomorrow unless I feel like going out again tonight, getting tech support to grok 'I have no way of contacting you from my apartment, where the modem and phone line you want information about are' took until 10 minutes before the library closed. :P

Do you know how much of that is assuming you had an independent means of communication (cell phone, signal, data plan, etc.), and how much is them just being incompetent?

Both/neither; 'I can't do voice calls' is unusual enough to get weird reactions more or less as a matter of course.

It might be nice to have links to both "the beginning of the thread" and "the first post this month in the thread, plus maybe a couple before it for context", in cases where those differ. The use case I'm thinking of is someone who checks in very infrequently, and uses the weekly/monthly summaries in the same way a more regular reader might use the daily reports.

'First' links to the first post of the month; I figure the first post in a thread is easy enough to find. Some of the threads that started in early March don't have their 'new' tags, though, probably because I wasn't (or wasn't reliably) including that in the daily reports then. (Or maybe there's a bug in my assistant program; that'd be the reason if the new thread tags do exist in the relevant daily reports. I can check sometime when I'm on a computer, if nobody else gets to it first.)
