I'm up for whatever in terms of ficcing. Aslong as it isn't primarily romance based, as it kinda gets to bore me if it's the sole thing (and I suck at writing it hardcore). Preferably I don't have to read three books to understand the setting, though. Stumbling through it would be cool though. Or just get me to give suggestions or proofread or whatever. I'm fairly impossible to annoy.

Worm; PR Nightmare Wards
Part of the PRT/Protectorate image is to remain publicly viewed as good, as in when Weaver was forced to use butterflies. What happens when you get a potential hero joining up, with a power that's straight up evil-looking? Or someone like Burnscar? Bitch and her mutant dogs, personality aside?

Protectorate capes with evil-looking powers: First question is can they hide it, or make it look harmless. Miss Militia's power skirts this, but they play up her image as an all-American hero and she gets away with the fact that her power is literally weapons. Crucible's power is to make a force field bubble and then INCINERATE EVERYTHING, so they have him just not use that second part.
Assuming there's no way to hide it, keep in mind that we mostly see Brockton Bay. It's an active cape city with a lot more combat than normal. First thing to come to mind is they transfer that cape to a position where they don't have to use their power often, or somewhere the public isn't looking. Eagleton, Tennessee was evacuated after the Machine Army incident (unknown outside of the WoG I'm drawing on, but presumably exactly what it sounds like. Empty city, occasional patrols and robot-melting); they can freely use any power they want against those. A lot is going to depend on where the cape will be able to work (you don't want to be guarding Madison for very long unless you're a hermit) but it's a big enough country that there's probably somewhere they could put them.
The PRT itself doesn't really worry about this. Damsel of Distress fires destructive chaos beams, and she can only mostly control it. The PRT is trying to convert her. (It's actually pretty brilliant. She mostly only steals food and supplies when she's running low, so the local office pays some of her bills without her knowledge so she does less crime. She hasn't been talked into working for them yet, but they think she'll come around eventually.) Anyway, that's someone with a pretty PR-unfriendly power and that's not even a consideration. Maybe she'd end up as a local sheriff in some small town. There's a lot less PR spotlight in Strafford, NH than there is in Brockton Bay. (For Weaver, there'd obviously be attention no matter where they put her.)
If the cape in question can't or won't move to another city, this gets harder. They can't just look through the list of places they need capes and find one that works. (Also, if they're a Ward, you are not putting them on long-term Fight The Machine Army duty because yikes.) They might just not deploy them very often. I imagine they wouldn't try to hide the reason, but who knows. Maybe they would if it'd drive that particular cape to go solo and they want to avoid that.
Yeah I was more meaning unhidable. Someone with the power of 'War-crime'. I haven't gotten into the whole lore outside of the story, but sure. Thanks for the write up :P

A fic I've read (lighthearted for a Worm fic) is centered on a corpse Tinker. While he was a Ward, officially his Tinker specialty was oil for PR reasons.
