But he doesn't seem too normal, either, does he?

No, he doesn’t.

I’m now wondering about transforming people where the people in question want to be transformed. Is it still apparently Magically Bad to transform somebody into a body they like better? Possible reasons to want to be transformed: the new body is the right sex, the new body has useful organs like wings or gills, the new body is not over- or under-weight and/or has a more cooperative metabolism, the new body has a better number of arms, …

Honestly, when someone's daemon is that belligerent towards them, there's generally going to be a reason.

(In this case it's Harry's status as Mama's Little War Machine, mostly, but the Lawbreaking didn't help.)

ETA: Sorry, missed your question. The problem isn't with the "against their will" bit, it's that for a mortal wizard transforming another without fucking them up is very difficult. Even if you get all the physical changes precisely right, the process will almost always drive them insane as their mind and soul de-synchronize with their body.

Somebody should try the blank critter medallions on like whales and bonobos.

They only work for medalionable critters, and I think all critters can speak in fullform even if they shouldn’t be able to.

Is this prompted by any specific sandbox?

No, by reading an unrelated fic (an Animorphs fic) in which they talk to a whale. Together with critter boxes in general and the plan to make medallions.

It’s probably low-enough cost that it’s worth trying, but I don’t expect it would work even if they are fully human-level sentient and intelligent, and even if their ancestors were cursed humans in this world.

Back when I was a babyteen on the internet I used to do wolf RP.

Livingstone's icon is one that I used for one of my characters (unsurprising, as it's the first result on Google and I wasn't particularly inventive) but the collision is kind of funny to me :D
