Okay, magical girl canons I like that do not have cats but maybe could:

• Magic Knight Rayearth
• Cardcaptor Sakura
• Mai Hime
• ...Pretty Cure?

Magical girl canons I like that don't include cats or mascots of any kind but that I'm going to list anyway Because Reasons:

• Little Witch Academia
• Black Rock Shooter
• Revolutionary Girl Utena
• Kill La Kill
• ...does Simoun count?

I have no idea which of these are Bellable.

I've also been working on developing a magical girl setting that involves mascots, which I would be willing to donate, but the mascots are more like daemons than like independent beings, so I don't think it would work for this.

I am familiar with Mai Hime but I don't think the Childs are smart enough to be templated like that. We're not doing Sailor Moon for reasons. I don't think Kiki's Delivery Service would work. I do not know the others (I have some limited exposure to Rayearth and Utena but didn't like them). We might just make something up, since that's easier.

Yeah it would be an unusual Child that was sapient, but I wasn't gonna rule it out as an option (especially because Mai Hime is very near the top of my list of favorite magical girl canons).

It seems like making things up is the way to go. What are fun features that a magical girl canon could have?

Things that seem like Important Magical Girl Tropes and thus should be considered:

• mascot which provides access to magic, usually in the form of:
• transformation sequence ending in a Magical Pretty Outfit
• magic weapon (does not have to look like a weapon but should be Pretty)
• magic threat to fight against
• magic that responds to things like Willpower, Friendship, Love, Wishes, Sacrifice, etc
• magic Artifacts Of Power/mcguffin(s) to keep out of the wrong hands

I think there is this cartoon netwoork show that parodies magical girl animes, but I can't remember the name.

It has a cat, and the girl costume is cat-like and she hates it.

I think that Card Captor Sakura could work with a Cricket standing for Kerberus?

To propose another Magical Girl canon which is also another obscure video game canon: Long Live the Queen (also available not on Steam). Elodi would be the Bell; not sure who anyone else would be. There is no mascot but the game is explicitly about optimizing the Magical Girl ruler of a fantasy nation and thereby optimizing the nation, so it's quite Bellable. Also it's a fun game that I generally recommend (it's sort of a visual novel strategy game? you choose weekly lessons and weekend activities and conversation options and try to manage your mood so that you can get everything done that you need to in order to not die and rule your country well).
