I'm not sure what you mean, but I'm sort of pitying Glam for it. I know I sometimes do it, but I try not to, and it's definitely sorta annoying, but I'm not sure if there's really a better response – they did mess up, though not in the most predictable way; I mean, it's not really Glam's fault that the Protectorate aren't genderfluid-friendly, and it's not really Glam's fault that the Youth Guard likes to attack the Protectorate in a really obvious way, though it definitely could have gone better had they spoken with Lorica first.

Do you mean you don't like that Glam's being all like "You need to get less stupid", or have they done something just recently that you find stupid?

I'm kinda curious what's up with Boots, though. I mean, it seems like a pretty weird response, as Lorica said, even though I suppose we don't know much about his character.

I mean the bolded part, I don't have any issue with "less stupid" but I would label it "get better informed". Glam did react in an irrational way, but he is playing his own needs down a bit too much?

It doesn't help how Piggot handled things the first time around.

Glam's speech to Lorica is pretty spot-on about what they wanna do. It's not exactly that what the YG did was the worst thing per se, but Glam doesn't actually know that it was right, they just acted impulsively without considering alternatives or possible consequences (just like they accused Al of doing on the phone). If they had looked into stuff, if they had researched, if they had asked, if they had talked, there were lots of really obvious things they could've done that they didn't do and that's what they want to change.

So while they don't really endorse some (or a lot) of what they said in the heat of the moment, the general feeling and resolution there is something like "think before you act," in general, regardless of whether they feel really justified in doing it.

(Unless I completely misunderstand what you meant you're not liking.)

I am having trouble parsing this sentence (from here):

I’m not sure if it’s a garden path sentence or a typo somewhere and not sure what it’s supposed to be if the latter. My guess at what it means: Cam and San Francisco are on relatively different parts of the Earth. Because the earth is rotating about the North/South axis, this means that they are moving at different velocities. If Cam appeared something stationary relative to himself, it would be moving relative to San Francisco, which would be bad. Fortunately for all, he appeared the object stationary relative to San Francisco.

Is that what the sentence meant, or did I misread it?

That is what it means. When Cam is on a planet things he makes are stationary relative to the planet.

The rules for “motionless” are so… inconsistent with underlying physics that it seems like they must be at least partially psychological. To what extent can demons work around these rules?

For example, Cam said he could make things still relative to himself if he tried, in the context of making a spaceship while already ascending. Could he have, if he’d tried, made some 500-mph indestructible objects appear in San Francisco?

I have intuitive-enough-to-write-with, partly-psychology-based rules-of-sorts about the thing. I suppose Cam could weaponize high-velocity Endbringer bits if he wanted to.

Multiple bad words in that sentence. Don't know how they got there. It's meant to be saying that physics kindly looked the other way.
