Yep, it should be. Problem is, I have no idea what license everyone would be okay with. And I don't want to go releasing it under a specific license, because I don't actually own the stuff, and as-is, I'm pretty sure the copyright technically stays as whatever it was, since people have just given me permission to redistribute their work. Could be wrong.

I've just added author tagging to the code; I'll test it and then release an updated version.

Well, I think I recognise that license, and as far as I know it's fine! Hopefully people will be okay with it; that'd make things a lot easier, I think.

IANAL, but I believe that if all the contributing authors agreed to CC-BY-NC-SA, then the epub could be distributed under that same license. That license allows others to prepare derivative works (like the epub) and release them under the same license. Nice and simple.

Excepting the part where large portions of it are technically fanfiction and fair use is very nebulously defined in the United States, and the part where the Bell template itself might or might not count as Twilight fanfiction by any given definition, and the parts where some authors are not from the United States and I have no idea how that interacts with US copyright law, and the part where Throne3d is from the UK which probably considers such things differently, and the part where the epub is still hosted by Dropbox which is based in the US so those laws are still relevant, …

I do in fact recognize that intellectual property law is important in many cases, but it gets a little ridiculous fairly quickly. Ignoring the fanfic aspect, I think my first paragraph is definitely true even given the other countries issue.

I'm pretty sure that licenses like CC-BY-NC-SA are respected by UK law, since I don't believe there are any major differences that cause it to be incompatible (and I assume they check for things like that when they write the licenses). Whatever part my modification of this stuff may take, I don't plan on claiming that I have any right to own it, and would be willing to release my changes, at least, under the CC-BY-NC-SA. I doubt the whole Bell template would actually be considered Twilight fanfiction or straight from Twilight, but a lot of the recurring features probably would be (living in Forks with her father, Charlie, etc.). The epub could be moved to another system if that would be more convenient. But yeah, it definitely seems like a mess if someone were to try to use it in a court or something, though it's probably better to try to release it under some license if possible.

I think the exact details of these variouslaws are largely irrelevant and creative commons is a nice semiformal way of putting things.

In a pragmatic sense I think I'm okay with CC-BY-NC-SA. I don't particularly want people picking up Lurker or Dusk or anybody and doing completely new things with them, but I wouldn't mind fanfic and I don't think there's a way to disallow one without disallowing both, and putting a full NoDerivs on my stuff seems like overkill when we've already got a norm of not using each other's characters like that. (I don't mind people using Carp or the magic system or anything, either, just the characters.)

I'm cool with that license for what little part I play. Slight preference for dropping the "NC" on general principle.

Updated things. Things that have "author: blah" or "person: blah" tags now have those authors listed under their headings in the actual chapters. A few broken icons were fixed (it was being stupid before). Here they are: Glowfic, Alicorn's Sandbox, oh, and Marri's Glowfic.

Okay, well, the script was accidentally eating the last link in the "Other Shorts" section. This has been fixed. I also assigned a new character (swordofeden) Maggie's moiety (now listed).

Updated Sandbox. Updated Glowfic.

Woo! More unknown moieties. Anyone able to help out?

Oh, and in case people are just totally ignoring the other threads, I've asked about standardizing some indexes. Feel free to ask me to do the work of converting your index, or request that I make cosmetic changes (that hopefully won't throw off the scraper), or just refuse and make the scraper sad (because I have to hard-code in how to get chapters off your index). Here are some examples of what the proposed indexes look like: Incandescence-style, Marri style, (new) Peterverse style, and (proposed) Sandbox style.
