I thought it didn’t fit either, but I also feel like a PoW treaty which is much worse than the Geneva convention in many key areas—I checked; the Geneva Convention among other things requires access to medical care among other things—also doesn’t fit, so my ability to judge fit is miscalibrated for that universe.

Let’s see.
Kappa:
Leaf and some other Miles; I’m undecided on whether I think the Nexus one or Milan would be more interesting.

Alicorn:
Cherish and Chelsa (pre-Tab, post-Harley), because they seem to have very different life paths.

There are plenty of political reasons why the galactic rules for treatment of POWs might have turned out not as good as the Geneva convention in some respects, and much fewer physical reasons why a largely-harder-than-that sci-fi universe should inexplicably contain psychic powers which are plot-relevant to exactly one story and never make a difference to anything again.

* this originally read "trigger event" but that was a brainfart, her trigger event was not as bad.
