Not to mention it involves non-siahrs who might not have consented to having a dragon fall in love with them at first sight. I expect it would freak them out.

And Amounts of Dragon continuity has no connection to peal-land, so there's no contact with Aurum.

Why was this food offensive? Is the food seller extremely anti-Barrayar for some reason I’d understand if I’d read canon?

He is anti-Barrayaran, and Yvette got burned by this in particular, I have plans to have it shown more in thread when I have energy to devote to things. It's been a rough couple of days for me.
