Re: Sandbox Discussions
It was demonic human meat, but still. (Haven't decided if it was going to be produced already in edible cut or if it was going to be a butchered basement dweller.)

Re: Sandbox Discussions
I was wondering about that, but hadn't found a good way for the character to ask.
He really doesn't want to know.
Also, Alex and Cam ended up hating (strongly disliking) each other, which was unexpected but is mildly hilarious.

Is it helpful if we imagine additional characters and their opinions?Kappa wrote:It is hard to come up with attendees and their agendas for the next third-siahr design meeting, but I fucking love Amounts of Dragon, so probably if we ever manage to solve that problem we will continue it.

Re: Sandbox Discussions
I will probably be pleased to hear about your additional character opinions even if they don't end up solving the problem.
Re: Sandbox Discussions
Siahrs have a general tendency to be ok with their sex, but there is still a Joker ex-shren so this obviously does not translate into actually being exactly cis. It would be nice if they could choose forms of an alternate sex than their original one.
Re: Sandbox Discussions
Could we see the design-so-far list Mial sent out? I have this list but I don't think it's the final version.
Here's a guy who's secretly a dragon. He wants to make sure that anyone who wants to can be a siahr now. He also wants to know if the dragon council claims jurisdiction over third-siahrs.
Here's a green-group dragon girl who thinks this project is so neat! She also has opinions about how empathy and mindspeech ought to interact with animals such as housepets.
Here's a miracle boy. He's still getting used to being allowed out among people. He might have some opinions, but he's not yet used to the idea that anyone might care what a little (ex-)shren boy has to say. From this perspective he's quite fascinated with Shren Alyemi.

Re: Sandbox Discussions
Are we supposed to give people or just the ideas of what they might say? I don't remember the thread well, but here some ideas:
*Water breathing for everyone, since black-group senses and blue-group form is already shared.
*The built-in ability to reproduce regardless of the parental sex. Male-bodied can go pregnant, or transfer the child to a consenting host.
*I am unsure how this works for regular dragons and shrens, but maybe built-in that the other non-dragon parent has a say on the children's sex.
*The ability to get plant forms, which is likely to be shot down due the obvious limitations/complications.
*Not a Third-siahrs specific thing, but someone might want suggest to Mial to create new animals for the sake of convenient forms (opposable thumbs for everyone!)
*Have the dragon's form growth be something somehow controllable, not necessarily something that a Third-siahrs can change fast, but maybe a dragon can decide "this year I shrink instead of grow a feet".
*Similar to above, everyone could get a free thudia-sized form.
*I think someone mentioned the problems that black-group face because of their senses. Not sure how it was resolved, but maybe, as a default everyone's powers should get off-switches.

Re: Sandbox Discussions
The list everyone was sent home with goes like so (as far as I can tell on a skim, it's the same thing with two more items at the end):
- Third-siahrs speak Reform Draconic (Draconic optional)
- No esu
- No spontaneous death
- No dragon magic
- No name expiration
- Ten forms for everyone
- Black-group dragon senses for everyone
- Same chance for lights, sorcerers, mages as non-siahr Elcenians
- Everyone Is Unusual, red- and white-group onset at age ninety-five
- Names can gain syllables even if that person has previously given that syllable to someone else
- (Names can gain at most two syllables from the same person)
- Personal names can have arbitrary length
- Location of natural colour in assumed forms can be intentionally varied (rust/patina/tarnish versions available for relevant metals)
- Namesong available at four syllables (same as dragons)
- Language and firebreathing kick in at about a month, shifting at about twenty years (same as dragons)
- Line names can be assigned by same-gender ancestor using two consecutive syllables (or one repeated in case of extreme scarcity)
- Third-siahr/dragon kids are parunias or third-siahr thudias; third-siahr/other kids are third-siahrs
- Third-siahr parents can choose when and what gender to have kids (same as dragons)
- Uniques naturally occur in 1/5 of babies (Form slots not restricted) (Green-group uniques need target cooperation to do mind magic) (Onset at 95)
- Needs solving: Parunia egg size is a problem for some species, and species who have many offspring at once could end up having hundreds of third-siahr kids.
Re: Sandbox Discussions
I asked my sufficently-defined characters what they wanted if they were going to be third-siahrs.
Thanjen is happy if he gets to be blue-group.
Teytis wants everyone to have unusual green-group telepathy, but that's already covered in Everyone Is Unusual, but please delete the 'read surface thoughts' part because that should be reserved for people who are reliably going to be trained to use it ethically.
