Aang lived a longass time chronologically.

I think Kyoshi got to be super old but don't remember where that's established.

Apparently there is some inconsistent information, but supposedly Kyoshi was the longest lived Avatar, dying at 230. That's older than Aang even chronologically. According to a broken reference on Avatar wiki, it is suspected that Aang died young because of extensive use of the Avatar State to survive the iceberg.

Given all this and futuristic medicine, 400 years is a bit short, but not unreasonably so (especially given that Avatars can die early).

Two potentially related questions about earth/mars:

First:

Howard Stark himself, and his family, are living on the colony now for hands-on work with the ruins

What ruins are there on this Mars? Were they preexisting or was there a problem with an earlier part of the colonization effort?

Second, can Renée actually be happy on a partially-colonized Mars? I would think there would be very few potential hobbies. The novelty would wear off quickly, and then I’d expect it to be worse than Forks (which at least has a nearby Port Angeles). I expect I’m missing something, but if not she will be miserable.

The ruins belonged to aliens since deceased.

Renée expects the colony to grow, and the novelty will not actually wear off that fast.

I would have expected the novelty to wear off within a few weeks, but if it isn’t that fast and the colony grows with incoming ships anyway, then that works out just fine.

We don't actually have a ton of detail on aliens since deceased, which is part of what's stalling kappa about picking up Opportunity.
